Taipei, May 21, 2003 - Silicon Integrated Systems Corp.(SiS), a leading supplier of core logic chipsets, today announces the SiS648FX—the new generation core logic chipset compatible with the 800MHz FSB (front-side bus) Pentium® 4 microprocessor. After signing a technology licensing agreement for the 800MHz FSB standard, SiS rapidly launched SiS648FX to the market. It is the only core logic chipset currently available in the market to support both the Intel pentium®4 microprocessor operating at 800MHz FSB speed and the single-channel DDR400 memory.

“Following the extension of the long-term chipset license agreement with Intel, SiS took the initiative to launch SiS648FX to the market within the shortest span of time, which marks SiS“s leading R&D capacity in new platforms,“ said Michael Chen, president and CEO of SiS. “We will continue to expand our product range for Pentium® 4 platforms to satisfy market demand and help customers create competitive products.“

As the ideal solution for the high memory bandwidth demand of the Pentium® 4 800MHz front side bus, SiS648FX also supports high-performance DDR400, AGP8X interface, MuTIOL® 1G and the cutting edge HyperStreamingTM technology. Moreover, SiS648FX, partnered with SiS180, can optimize the data transfer rate between PCI to serial ATA. This perfect combination carries excellent performance for Pentium® 4 platforms and fulfills the strong market demand for super-speed data transfer.

The SiS648FX is paired with South Bridge SiS963L, which features MuTIOL® 1G technology, USB 2.0/1.1, Dual ATA133/100/66 IDE Channels, 5.1 Channel AC“97 Audio, 10/100Mb Ethernet and Home PNA2.0. The MuTIOL® 1G is a SiS proprietary technology with 1GB/sec transfer speed and bi-directional 16-bit data bus at 533MHz operating speed, allowing a seamless bridge between North Bridge and South Bridge. Utilizing SiS“s MuTIOL® 1G technology, the combination of SiS648FX and SiS963L provides the widest data bandwidth yet to achieve high-transfer-rate requirements.
