nVidia, Matrox und AGP 8x

Als zwei der ersten Grafikkarten/Grafikchiphersteller haben nVidia und Matrox heute offiziell angekündigt, AGP 8x, welches von Intel diesen Monat vorgestellt werden soll, in ihren zukünftigen Produkten zu verwenden und zu unterstützen.

Wie bei der AGP 4x Spezifikation wird der AGP 8x Rev. 0.9 auf einen 32Bit breiten Bus zurück greifen, der jedoch eine Verdopplung der Taktrate auf 533MHz und damit auch eine Verdopplung der Bandbreite vorsieht

"We are pleased to have worked with Intel to develop the AGP8x specification and intend to fully support it in our future generation GPUs," stated Dan Vivoli, senior vice president of marketing at NVIDIA. "By providing advanced system bandwidth to balance graphics performance, our AGP8x initiative represents a major step forward in the graphics industry."
