The P5AD2-E Premium motherboard incorporated four exclusive features that make it the choice of serious overclockers. The unique BIOS-based innovations raise system performance by unlocking the CPU multiplier lock, overclocking PCI-Express graphics cards, supporting DDRII 711 and shortening latency time between the CPU and memory modules.
The P5AD2-E Premium, based on the latest Intel 925XE chipset, supports the LGA775 Pentium 4 processor with 1066MHz front-side-bus (FSB). This all-new motherboard also incorporated ASUS Intelligence (AI) Proactive technology that enhances systems with automatic overclocking, easy establishment of wired and wireless networks and unique cooling design.
Superior overclocking
Hyper Path2 - Shorten Memory Latency
The Northbridge controls communication between the processor and memory. When the processor sends out memory related commands, the Northbridge provides a path for data transfer that includes various mechanisms to synchronize the CPU and memory modules. Unfortunately, these mechanisms cause data transfer delays, which are commonly known as “latency time between CPU and memory“.
Hyper Path2 significantly shortens the latency time between the CPU and memory, and improves memory performance without sacrificing stability. Activate both Hyper Path2 and Intel PAT (Performance Acceleration Technology) on the 925XE based P5AD2-E Premium to experience powerful computing.
DDR2 711 Native Support
Although Intel claimed that the 925XE chipset supports only DDRII 400 and 533MHz memory frequency, ASUS engineers successfully unleashed its true potential. The P5AD2-E Premium offers native DDRII 711, eliminating the bottleneck when overclocking the CPU and memory. With current processor supporting 1066MHz FSB, the P5AD2-E Premium, the only solution with native DDRII 711, provides superior performance for memory-intensive applications.
PEG Link
PEG (PCI-Express Graphics) Link significantly boosts performance of PCI-Express graphics cards to deliver superior video quality. On traditional platforms, users can“t manually tweak graphics card performance since the driver controls graphics card overclockability. PEG Link, a BIOS-based feature, is specifically created to eliminate this limitation. It automatically detects system configuration and adjust related parameters to provide powerful visual performance.
CPU Lock Free
CPU Lock Free unlocked the CPU multiplier restrictions set by Intel on its processor. Users usually tweak their systems either by increasing FSB frequency or CPU multiplier, which is locked for the Pentium 4 CPU. ASUS motherboards now offer CPU Lock Free, which enables CPU multiplier adjustment. Multiplier reduction provides more flexibility for increasing FSB frequency without raising CPU clockspeed, successfully improving data transfer between the CPU and memory modules.
AI Proactive Features - System enhancement without lifting a finger
Stack Cool -Cooler overclocking and quieter operation
Stack Cool technology utilizes a mini PCB stacked against the main PCB to conduct heat away from power components, resulting in a 10° Celsius temperature reduction. This fan-less design enables cooler overclocking, greater stability and longer system life without an extra noisy fan.
AI NOS - Boost performance when it“s most needed
AI NOS (Non-delay Overclocking System) technology intelligently detects system loading and automatically boosts performance for the most demanding tasks. Unlike other “dynamic overclocking“ mechanism that overclocks according to temperature, AI NOS monitors power consumption, accelerating the CPU exactly when it“s most needed.
WiFi-g - Onboard Access Point
WEP? SSID? Building a home WLAN used to be a hassle with confusing acronyms and cryptic menus. With WiFi-g, and its easy setup wizard, high-speed WLAN is a few clicks away. WiFi-g can serve as the access point or a wireless adapter for PCs to connect to existing WLAN. (Compliant to IEEE 802.11g 54Mbps data transfer.)
AI NET2 -Diagnose LAN connection before entering OS
Network problems are often caused by bad cable connection. AI NET2 remotely detects cable connection the second you turn on the system, and reports back any faulty connections up to 100 meters at 1 meter accuracy.
