Microsoft und Yahoo kooperieren bei IM

Microsoft und Yahoo gaben gestern ihre Kooperation im Bereich der Instant Messenger bekannt. Ab dem zweiten Quartal 2006 sollen Nutzer von Microsofts MSN Messenger und des Yahoo! Messengers auch mit Nutzern des jeweils anderen Netzwerks kommunizieren können und so praktisch zu einer Community verschmelzen.

Neben dem Austausch von Nachrichten erlaubt das Interoperabilitätsabkommen die Abfrage des Online-Status, den Tausch von Emoticons und das Hinzufügen von Kontakten aus beiden Netzen zur Freundesliste. Nach Unternehmensangaben umfasst die zukünftige gemeinsame Kundenbasis über 275 Millionen Nutzer.
