„DayZ“-Mod erhält weiteres umfangreiches Update
Während die Standalone-Version von „DayZ“ noch auf sich warten lässt, ist die Community eifrig dabei die Arma-Mod zu optimieren. Nach der Anfang des Monats herausgegebenen Aktualisierung 1.7.5.1 folgt nun das Update 1.7.6, das ähnlich umfangreich ausfällt und sich vor allem einigen schon lange kritisierten Themen widmet.
Eines davon sind die merkwürdigen Laufwege der Zombies, die bislang dafür bekannt waren, im Zick-Zack-Kurs zwar schnell, jedoch nicht gerade zielstrebig die Verfolgung von Spielern aufzunehmen. Dieses „Hakenschlagen“ soll mit dem Update gemindert werden; im Gegenzug wurde die Sprintgeschwindigkeit der Untoten reduziert. Darüber hinaus sollen die Zombies nicht mehr durch sämtliche Objekte hindurchgehen können, was oft für unliebsame Überraschungen sorgte.
In der Liste der hinzugefügten Features findet sich unter anderem ein ebenfalls seit langem geforderter Köcher für Armbrustbolzen wieder. Für die Spielmechanik weniger von Bedeutung, aber für das Community-Gefühl wertvoll, sind diverse neue Modelle für Konserven und Getränke, die teils Namen bekannter Persönlichkeiten aus Kreisen der Entwickler und Spieler tragen. Als Nahkampfwaffe soll nun auch eine Machete verfügbar sein, die Brechstange (Crowbar) lässt sich zudem nun im Werkzeuggurt verstauen.
Inwieweit das hinzugefügte „Anti Teleport Script“ Hackern und Cheatern beim Herumteleportieren auf den Servern Einhalt gebieten wird, muss sich zeigen. Das amüsante, aber aus Sicht des Realismus sehr abwegige „Nachladen“ von Axt und Crowbar soll zudem nun behoben sein.

Bezüglich der in Entwicklung befindlichen Standalone-Version von „DayZ“ gibt es hingegen wenig Konkretes zu berichten. Vor einigen Tagen hatten die Entwickler im DayZ-Devblog ein Video gezeigt, welches Aufnahmen zum Motion-Capturing für neue Zombie-Animationen zeigt.
