Overclocking-Versicherung: Intel streicht neun Jahre altes PTPP-Programm

Anfang 2012 eingeführt hat sich der „Performance Tuning Protection Plan“ (PTPP) von Intel im Jahre 2021 überlebt. Die Versicherung für Overclocker umfasst zum Start den einmaligen Umtausch der CPU bei Overclocking-Schäden und war mit 20 US-Dollar Einstieg vergleichsweise günstig.

Laut Intel sei die Nachfrage nach der Versicherung nicht mehr gegeben. Moderne Schutzmechanismen bewahren heutzutage eine CPU fast immer vor dem Tod, wenn übertaktet wird, ausgenommen dürften absolute Extreme mit flüssigem Stickstoff und sehr hohen Spannungen sein, die zu schnell für die integrierten Schutzmechanismen sind. Für alle normalen Overclocker verweist der Hersteller auf Intel Performance Maximizer und Intel XTU.

The Performance Tuning Protection Plan program has been discontinued.

As customers increasingly overclock with confidence, we are seeing lower demand for the Performance Tuning Protection Plans (PTPP). As a result, Intel will no longer offer new PTPP plans effective March 1, 2021.

Intel will continue focusing on delivering amazing processors with tuning flexibility and overclocking tools like Intel Performance Maximizer and Intel XTU.
