Die Distribution antiX-21 („Grup Yorum“) ist ein Leichtgewicht auf Basis des aktuellen Debian 11 („Bullseye“) und des Systemkernels Linux 4.9.0. Basierend auf dem in C++ geschriebenen, äußerst ressourcenschonenden Fenstermanager IceWM für das Fenstersystem X11 entsteht eine sehr leichte Arbeitsumgebung für alte PCs.
Leichtgewicht mit Linux 4.9.0 und 5.10 LTS
Neben einem speziell auf antiX angepassten Linux mit der Versionsnummer 4.9.0-279 verfügt das freie Betriebssystem, das aus der US-Distribution MEPIS hervorgegangen ist, auch in der neuesten Version antiX-21 („Grup Yorum“) über seine eigene sehr leichte Arbeitsumgebung, die das Open-Source-Projekt unter dem Namen „antiX Magic“ zusammengefasst hat. Um auch neue Hardware zu unterstützen, steht der Betriebssystemkernel Linux 5.10 LTS mit Langzeitsupport optional bereit.

Das in der Basis bis Dezember 2026 unterstützte Betriebssystem setzt neben bewährten Anwendungen wie dem Browser Mozilla Firefox 78.15.0 ESR und der freien Office-Suite LibreOffice 7.0 auch auf alternative Programme wie Seamonkey 2.53.9.1 und das mit vielfältigen Konfigurationsoptionen aufwartende Claw Mail.

Vier leichte Fenstermanager zur Auswahl
Anders als die Basis, Debian 11 („Bullseye“), das mit den beiden Desktop-Umgebungen KDE Plasma 5.20.5 und Gnome 3.38 („Orbis“) daherkommt, konzentriert sich antiX-21 auf die vier Fenstermanager IceWM, Fluxbox, Joe's Window Manager (JWM) und HerbstluftWM. Insgesamt stehen vier Systemabbilder zum Download bereit.
antiX is available for IA-32 and x86-64 architectures, and comes in 4 versions:
Full, which installs a full range of applications (1,4 GB)
Base, which allows the user to choose their own application suite (800 MB)
Core, no X, cli-installer without encryption, which enables the user to have total control over the install (440 MB)
net, no X, cli-installer without encryption,which enables the user to have total control with no desktop environment by default (180 MB)
