postmarketOS 21.12: Distribution läuft jetzt auf dem Samsung Galaxy Tab

Die auf Alpine Linux basierende Distribution postmarketOS läuft jetzt auch auf den Tablets Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 und Galaxy Tab 9.7 sowie dem Pocophone F1. Zudem werden weitere Einplatinencomputer von PINE64 auf ARM-Basis mit den beiden freien Desktop-Umgebungen Gnome und KDE Plasma sowie Linux 5.15 LTS versorgt.

Distribution auch für den mobilen Einsatz

Das Betriebssystem postmarketOS ist in der Version 21.12 erschienen und basiert auf der seinerseits auf der C-Standard-Bibliothek musl sowie BusyBox aufbauende Distribution Alpine Linux in der Version 3.15. Als Desktops respektive Benutzeroberflächen kommen die mobilen Ausführungen von Gnome 41 mit der von Purism für die hauseigenen Linux-Smartphones entwickelten Phosh-Shell oder wahlweise das neueste KDE Plasma Mobile Gear 21.12 zum Einsatz.

Neben den Kernelementen wie dem App-Starter, dem Netzwerk-Manager und der Telefonie-Funktion wurden auch Anwendungen wie der Browser Mozilla Firefox sowie der Messenger NeoChat und der Grafikbetrachter Koko auf den neuesten Stand gebracht und zahlreiche Fehlerkorrekturen und Optimierungen eingepflegt.

• Sxmo 1.6.x brings the whole Sxmo stack from X11 to Wayland! The Sxmo development team and users tested this impressive undertaking in postmarketOS edge since November, and after the usual release coordination we're happy to have 1.6.1 running on top of this new stable pmOS v21.12 release.
• Plasma Mobile Gear 21.12 not only has more or less by coincidence the same release version as this postmarketOS release. But also it brings a huge amount of improvements over the last version. Find some great visual impressions over at the Plasma Mobile Blog.
• Phosh 0.14.0 is the same version we backported in last month's v21.06 SP4. However some small tweaks have been made (such as properly displaying the Firefox icon in the preview window, as the screenshot shows), and many of the GNOME apps such as gnome-settings have been upgraded to their GNOME 41 versions.

Für postmarketOS 21.12 wurden auch die minimalistische Benutzeroberfläche Sxmo vom X Window System auf das Display-Server-Protokoll Wayland portiert und die postmarketOS-Tweaks auf die Version 0.9.0 angehoben.

Abseits von Tablets und Smartphones lässt sich postmarketOS auch auf PCs und Einplatinencomputern wie dem Odroid HC2 und dem PineBook Pro von Pine64 betreiben.
