Files 2.1.2: Freier Dateimanager im Fluent Design für Windows 11

Files ist ein freier Dateimanager, der im Fluent Design von Windows 11 daherkommt und viele nützliche Features bietet. In der neuesten Version 2.1 erhält die als UWP-App ausgelegte Open-Source-Anwendung auch native Unterstützung für ARM64 sowie eine Integration der freien Cloud-Plattform Nextcloud und diverse Fehlerkorrekturen.

Auch die Nutzung eines dunklen Modus und benutzerdefinierter Themes ist möglich, während kleine Details, wie die Berechnung des 128-Bit-Hashwertes (MD5) oder der Schnellzugriff auf das Windows-Subsystem für Linux (WSL) über die Sidebar, sowie Tabs und eine Zwei-Fenster-Ansicht, den Dateimanager von den Bordmitteln des Betriebssystems deutlich abheben und diese mühelos weit übertrifft.

Die offiziellen Release Notes zu Files v2.1 listen neben der neuen Cloud-Integration und dem ARM64-Support zahlreiche Optimierungen und Fehlerkorrekturen sowie neue Keyboard-Shortcuts und eine überarbeitete UI mit erweiterten Layouts und Dialogen.

Zudem machen neue Autostart-Funktionen für Dateien und eine Vorschau für Audio- und Videoinhalte den Dateimanager noch vielseitiger.
