Radeon RX 6800S im Test: Testergebnisse und Benchmarks

Stets aktuelle und mit dem neuen Testkandidaten vergleichbare Benchmark-Resultate zur Hand zu haben, ist bei Desktop-GPUs und -CPUs in erster Linie eine Fleißarbeit, denn in beiden Kategorien hält das Lager der Redaktion so gut wie alle relevanten Modelle der letzten Jahre bereit. Bei Notebook-Hardware ist das anders, denn Notebooks gehen in der Regel zurück zum Teststeller.
Den einen großen und vor allem aktuellen Vergleichsparcours gibt es deshalb wie zuletzt im Test der Radeon 680M auch in diesem Test nicht, ja selbst erst kürzlich erstellte Messergebnisse sind nicht mehr enthalten: Updates für Guardians of the Galaxy und Cyberpunk 2077 sowie der neue AMD Adrenalin 22.2.2 mit rBAR-Boost haben Messergebnisse aus dem Januar bereits wieder obsolet gemacht – und keines der damals neu getesteten GeForce-Muster ist mehr in der Redaktion.
Neben synthetischen Benchmarks wurden drei verschiedene Testparcours verwendet:
- Der aktuelle Desktop-Grafikkarten-Testparcours, CP 2077 mit Pach 1.5 (Infos)
- Der zuletzt bei RTX 3050, RX 6500 XT und 680M verwendete Testparcours (Infos)
- Der Ende 2021 verwendete GPU-Parcours für Low-End-Notebooks (Infos)
Alle Radeon-RX-6000M/S-Benchmarks mit Adrenalin 22.2.2
Alle Benchmarks von Radeon RX 6800M und Radeon RX 6800S wurden mit dem Adrenalin 22.2.2 und damit inklusive des neuen Leistungszuwachses über rBAR neu erstellt. Und auf noch einen Aspekt gilt es offensiv hinzuweisen:
Alle Benchmarks mit direkter Bildausgabe an der dGPU
Alle im Test enthaltenen Benchmarks von Radeon RX 6800S und Radeon RX 6800M wurden bei direkter Bildausgabe über die dGPU ermittelt. Beim Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 kann das dank MUX-Switch auf jedem Ausgang und selbst auf dem internen Display erzwungen werden. Beim ROG Strix G15 mit Radeon RX 6800 ohne MUX-Switch ist das wiederum nur dann der Fall, wenn ein externes Display über den USB-Typ-C-Anschluss mit DisplayPort-Alternate-Modus auf der Rückseite angeschlossen wird. Die Bildausgabe über HDMI und das interne Display erfolgt hingegen immer über den Umweg iGPU, was in einigen Titeln 5 Prozent, in anderen aber mal eben 50 Prozent Leistung kostet – mehr dazu in Kürze in einem separaten Test.
Getestet wurden beide GPUs im Profil „Turbo“, wie es Asus im Tool Armoury Crate definiert.

Synthetische Benchmarks
25 Prozent mehr Shader und 23 Prozent mehr Takt sorgen auf dem Papier für 46 Prozent mehr Leistung bei der Radeon RX 6800M gegenüber der Radeon RX 6800S. In den synthetischen Benchmarks schlägt sich das mit 32 bis 37 Prozent Mehrleistung nieder. Alle drei stellen hohe Anforderungen an die GPU, laufen aber nur in FHD.

In Spielen fällt der Abstand beider Grafikchips in Full HD geringer aus. Im Durchschnitt über Cyberpunk 2077, F1 2021 und Resident Evil Village sind es nur 23 Prozent, die sich die Radeon RX 6800M absetzen kann. Die Radeon RX 6800S erreicht das Leistungsniveau einer Radeon RX 5700 XT, die Radeon RX 6800M liegt hingegen 10 Prozent hinter der Radeon RX 6700 XT zurück.

Wird in F1 2021 und Resident Evil Raytracing aktiviert, steigt die GPU-Last signifikant an. Die Radeon RX 6800M ist jetzt 41 respektive 49 Prozent schneller als die Radeon RX 6800S. Die Radeon RX 6800S hält dabei den Abstand zur Radeon RX 6600 XT. Die Radeon RX 6800M schneidet im Vergleich zur Radeon RX 6700 XT hingegen besser ab – sie kann ihre GPU-Rohleistung erst jetzt richtig ausspielen.

In F1 2021 inklusive Raytracing kratzt die Radeon RX 6800M sogar an der Marke von 60 Prozent Vorsprung, was auf den ersten Blick zu hoch erscheint, aber durchaus Sinn ergibt: Mit 96 zu 32 MB ist der Unterschied beim Infinity Cache zwischen beiden GPUs enorm und bei WQHD inklusive Raytracing ist das Speicherinterface von großer Bedeutung – der kleine Infinity Cache bremst die Radeon RX 6800S messbar.

Im Spiele-Benchmark-Parcours bei FHD-Auflösung mit nur noch hohen und nicht mehr maximalen Details liegt der Vorsprung der Radeon RX 6800M auf die Radeon RX 6800S abermals im Durchschnitt lediglich bei etwas über 20 Prozent. Dafür zeichnet auch hier F1 2021 verantwortlich, wo beide Grafikchips jetzt ein reproduzierbares Patt erreichen. Ohne F1 sind es 27 Prozent Vorsprung im Schnitt. Fortnite ist 42 Prozent voraus, Resident Evil Village nur 13 Prozent. Auch in FHD kann die Radeon RX 6800M also deutlich schneller sein, aber es kommt dann sehr auf den Titel und die Einstellungen an.
