Vivobook mit Snapdragon X Elite im Test: Benchmarks in Anwendungen und AI
2/4Der Einfluss der Profile ist geklärt, damit können jetzt aussagekräftige Benchmarks erstellt werden.
Testmethodik
Alle nachfolgenden App-Benchmarks wurden dabei im jeweils höchsten Leistungsprofil an der Steckdose erstellt (Vivobook: Beste Leistung + Volle Leistungsfähigkeit; Blade 14: Turbo; Zephyrus G15: Turbo). Sie stellen damit keine Sweet-Spot-Messungen dar, sondern das, was die Plattform jeweils maximal zu leisten im Stande ist. Auf allen drei Systemen waren alle Windows-Updates und die aktuellen Treiber installiert.
Benchmarks in aktuellen Apps (Leistung)
Die nachfolgend getesteten Apps nutzen jeweils die aktuell verfügbare Version und wurden, sofern möglich, sowohl in nativem Arm64 als auch in x86 64 Bit ausgeführt. Alle Benchmarks wurden im Juni 2024 neu erstellt.
In 7-Zip kann der Snapdragon X Elite mit maximal 3,4 GHz auf allen Kernen mit dem Core Ultra 9 samt sechs Performance- und acht Efficiency-Kernen gleichziehen, wenn die App nativ für Arm kompiliert worden ist. Emuliert als x86-64-Bit-App, liegt die Leistung 11 Prozent darunter. Der Ryzen 9 8945HS mit acht Zen-4-Kernen ist schneller.

Im Blender Benchmark (x86 64 Bit) muss der Snapdragon X Elite die Konkurrenten deutlicher davonziehen lassen: Zu Intel und AMD sind es in diesem Fall knapp 30 Prozent Rückstand. Mit der GPU ließ sich der Test nicht ausführen (auch Premiere Pro wollte GPU-Rendering nicht auf dem Snapdragon nutzen).

In Cinebench 2024 lassen die zwölf Oryon-Kerne wiederum ihre Muskeln spielen und können sich im höchsten Leistungsprofil an die Spitze setzen. Im Single-Core-Durchlauf liegt das Arm-SoC mit der x86-Konkurrenz gleichauf, Apple zieht mit dem eigenen Arm-Design weit davon.

Benchmarks in älteren Apps (Kompatibilität)
Die soeben präsentierten Benchmarks wurden neu erstellt, um die jeweils aktuelle App, potentiell sogar eine native Arm64-Version, nutzen zu können. Zuletzt getestet hat ComputerBase Notebooks wiederum in einem anderen Parcours, der bereits ältere App-Versionen enthält. Der Vollständigkeit halber hat die Redaktion auch diesen Parcours noch einmal auf dem Vivobook S 15 durchlaufen, obschon die Tatsache, dass beispielsweise Chrome für die Browser-Benchmarks inzwischen nativ als 64-Bit-Arm-App vorliegt (siehe oben), noch mal deutlich hervorgehoben werden muss.
Wesentlicher als der Blick auf die Leistung ist in diesem Fall der Blick auf die Tatsache, dass alle x86-Apps zur Zusammenarbeit überredet werden konnten. Einschränkungen gab es in Handbrake, Blender Benchmark, AgiSoft Metashape und Premiere Pro in Bezug auf die Adreno-GPU, die alle vier Anwendungen nicht nutzen wollten.

AI-Benchmarks mit der NPU
Die im Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite integrierte NPU mit 45 TOPS Leistung kann, sofern sie angesprochen wird, ihre Muskeln zeigen: Im AI-Benchmark „AI Computer Vision“ aus der UL Procyon Suite erreicht die NPU 70 Prozent der Leistung einer GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, die über TensorRT mit ihren Tensor-Kernen agiert. Die NPU im Intel Core Ultra, sofern über OpenVINO angesprochen, erreicht mit 385 Punkten nur 20 Prozent der Leistung – das passt grob zu den von den Herstellern angegebenen TOPS: Intel Meteor Lake bietet 10 TOPS.

Ein Vergleich mit der NPU im Ryzen 9 8945HS (Ryzen AI) ist in diesem Benchmark aktuell nicht möglich, weil Windows ML (respektive DirectML) die NPU nicht ansprechen kann und es alternativ kein proprietäres Framework von AMD gibt.
Zwischenfazit Anwendungen
Endete der letzte Versuch, Windows und Arm zu vereinen, im Desaster, weil 64-Bit-x86-Apps zu Anfang gar nicht emuliert werden konnten, sieht das inzwischen anders aus: Zwar können nicht alle x86-Anwendungen so genutzt werden wie unter Windows auf x86-PCs (GPU-Beschleunigung nicht vorhanden), aber der gesamte Testparcours – sowohl neu als auch alt – läuft.
Wie sich der Snapdragon X Elite in der kleinsten Ausbaustufe im Vergleich zur Konkurrenz platziert, hängt dabei vom Benchmark ab. Fest steht auch mit Blick auf die Leistungsunterschiede je nach Profil, dass Qualcomm eine hohe TDP benötigt, um Spitzenplätze einzufahren, denn direkt im zweitschnellsten Profil fällt die Leistung deutlich.
Hier werden weitere Tests, dann hoffentlich auch mit mehr Informationen zum isolierten SoC-Stromverbrauch, zeigen müssen, wie sich Intel Core Ultra, AMD Ryzen, Apple Silicon und Qualcomm Snapdragon X unter Last in Sachen Effizienz schlagen.
