N-One NBook Fly im Test: Günstiges Dual-Display-Notebook will Asus übertrumpfen
Das N-One NBook Fly tritt mit zwei Displays (16 und 14 Zoll) im Stil des Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 an, kostet statt mehrerer tausend aber nur 700 Euro. Dafür verzichtet es auf die neueste Hardware. Im Praxistest zeigen sich allerdings ganz andere Probleme.
Beim N-One NBook Fly handelt es sich um ein Notebook mit zwei Displays. Neben dem normalen Hauptbildschirm mit 16 Zoll großer Bildschirmdiagonale verfügt es in der Basis über ein breitgezogenes Touchdisplay mit 14 Zoll. Es bietet somit vor allem Extravaganz und sticht aus der Masse an Notebooks deutlich hervor. Das Konzept hat es sich beim Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 abgeguckt, das auf genau dasselbe Prinzip des Doppel-Displays setzt.

Technische Daten des N-One NBook Fly
Ein Blick auf die technischen Daten verrät schnell, dass das Notebook zum günstigen Preis nicht auf aktuelle Technik setzt. Mit einem Intel Core i7-10850H samt UHD Graphics ist es nicht nur in dieser Hinsicht veraltet, sondern auch Wi-Fi 4 und Bluetooth 4.2 gehören nicht mehr zu dem, was heute Standard ist. Immerhin ein USB-C-Anschluss wird neben gleich drei USB-A-Buchsen bereits geboten. Auf einen LAN-Anschluss und HDMI müssen Käufer ebenfalls nicht verzichten. Auffällig ist, dass sämtliche Schnittstellen vergleichsweise schwergängig sind. USB-Stecker müssen mit mehr Kraft als üblich in die engen Anschlüsse gedrückt werden und das LAN-Kabel ist kaum wieder zu lösen, sobald es erst mal kräftig in den Anschluss gesteckt ist.

RAM und SSD lassen sich aufrüsten
Die 16 GB DDR4-SODIMM können, wenn die Abdeckung an der Unterseite des Notebooks abgeschraubt wird, um ein weiteres Modul ergänzt werden. Gleiches gilt für die 1-TB-SSD, denn das N-One NBook Fly ist eines der wenigen Notebooks, das ab Werk über zwei M.2-Steckplätze verfügt, von denen nur einer belegt ist. Eine weitere M.2-SSD im 2280-Format kann somit vom Nutzer selbst ergänzt werden.
Zwei Displays überzeugen nicht
Das 16 Zoll große Haupt-Display bietet 1.920 × 1.200 Pixel, nutzt also das 16:10-Seitenverhältnis, was für mehr Bildinhalt in der Höhe sorgt. Mit 60 Hz und 141 ppi liefert es darüber hinaus Standardkost. Beim kleineren Bildschirm in der Basis ist die Auflösung mit 3.840 × 1.110 Pixeln, die in 285 ppi resultieren, gleichsam deutlich höher und die Darstellung schärfer sowie sehr viel kleiner. Das 14-Zoll-Exemplar ist zudem ein Touchdisplay, weshalb es sich anbietet, auf dem unteren Bildschirm Anwendungen zu öffnen, die sich auch gut mit dem Finger bedienen lassen. Allerdings ist der Widerstand des Displays vergleichsweise hoch, der Finger gleitet deshalb nicht besonders leicht darüber. Man ärgert sich sogar, die Schutzfolie entfernt zu haben, da er auf dieser sehr viel besser rutscht.
Einfacher Hebemechanismus
Öffnet man das Notebook, wird das untere Display in der Basis automatisch angehoben. Dies erfolgt über Hebel, die rechts und links am Hauptbildschirm sitzen und unter das zweite Display greifen und es anheben. Der Anstellwinkel des zweiten Displays ist somit vom Hauptbildschirm vorgegeben beziehungsweise fix, denn er kann nicht angepasst werden.
Niedrige Helligkeit, schlechte Blickwinkel
Dass der Winkel starr ist, stellt durchaus ein Problem dar, weil die Blickwinkel des zweiten Displays extrem schlecht sind. Schon bei kleiner Abweichung vom optimalen Winkel ist das Bild dunkel und die Farben verfälscht. Im Grunde kann man es nur in optimaler Sitzposition zum Notebook gut nutzen.
Die Spitzenhelligkeit des zweiten Bildschirms beträgt 267 cd/m². Rechts und links fällt sie mit 257 und 253 cd/m² nur leicht ab. Der Schwarzwert ist mit 0,24 cd/m² hingegen sehr gut. Über Windows lässt sich die Helligkeit des zweiten Displays zwar nicht steuern, aber über FN + ALT + F5/F6 auf der Tastatur kann sie eingestellt werden.

Das 16 Zoll große Haupt-Display wird mit maximal 313 cd/m² heller, Spitzenwerte und eine Sonnentauglichkeit kann man aber auch ihm nicht bescheinigen. Zudem ist die Homogenität nicht die beste. In den Ecken wird der Bildschirm maximal 253 bis 270 cd/m² hell. Die minimale Display-Helligkeit beträgt 7,3 cd/m², der Schwarzwert ist mit 0,249 cd/m² hingegen gut.
Nach einer Woche löst sich das Display
Nach nur einer Woche im Testeinsatz zeigte sich dann aber ein ganz anderes Problem. Das schwergängige Scharnier mit dem Hebemechanismus für das zweite Display sorgt dafür, dass sich der Bildschirm löst, wenn man ihn mit der rechten Hand an der rechten Ecke etwas biegt. Dieses eigentlich vergleichsweise leichte Biegen hat ausgereicht, dass sich das Display in der linken unteren Ecke gelöst hat – samt geklebtem Rahmen. Öffnet man nun das Notebook, kommt der Bildschirm in der Ecke etwas heraus und verkantet dann wiederum an dem sich hebenden zweiten Display. Mit einem lauten Knacken löst sich dieses Verkanten dann beim Öffnen. Der Hauptbildschirm kann zwar wieder nach hinten gedrückt und der Rahmen so wieder verklebt werden – wird das Notebook ein paar Mal geöffnet, beginnt das Spiel jedoch von vorne. Die Verarbeitung ist an dieser Stelle mangelhaft.
Anschluss für dGPU
An der Rückseite des Notebooks befindet sich ein PCI-Express-Anschluss für externe Grafikkarten-Gehäuse. So lässt sich die GPU-Leistung des NBook Fly theoretisch deutlich erhöhen. Durchgesetzt haben sich diese Lösungen und der Anschluss bislang allerdings nicht.
Tastatur und Touchpad
Die Tastatur hinterlässt hingegen einen guten Eindruck. An Größe und Tastenanschlag hat man sich schnell gewöhnt und es gibt keine Probleme – abgesehen davon, dass das N-One NBook Fly ausschließlich mit US-Tastenlayout erhältlich ist, man also entweder mit deutscher Tastatur blind tippt, wenn man es kann, oder das US-Layout nutzen sollte.
Das Touchpad hinterlässt hingegen einen schlechteren Eindruck. Als klassisches Klick-Touchpad umgesetzt, ist das Klicken etwas zu locker und zudem nur im unteren Bereich möglich. Der Widerstand ist akzeptabel, auf einem MacBook gleitet der Finger jedoch ungleich besser – aber das darf hier nicht der Maßstab sein. Rechts neben der Tastatur, die wegen des zweiten Displays ganz nach unten rutschte, ist das Touchpad allerdings auch vergleichsweise klein geraten.
Leistung des N-One NBook Fly
Core i7-10850H mit iGPU Ist langsam
Intels Core i7-10850H aus der Comet-Lake-Familie von 2020 in 14-nm-Lithographie ist nicht mehr konkurrenzfähig, wenn man sich die Mitbewerber in aktuellen Notebooks ansieht. Dies gilt nicht nur für die sechs Kerne mit zwölf Threads, sondern in viel größerem Maße auch für die integrierte Grafik. Dass sich das gesamte Notebook beim Öffnen von Anwendungen und anderen Aufgaben immer wieder etwas länger Zeit lässt, merkt man auch im Alltag. Dennoch reicht die Leistung für Office und Web weiterhin aus.

Die interne SSD im Check
Bei der internen SSD handelt es sich um eine EAGET S300L mit M.2-SATA. Die Leistungsgrenze ist also klar umrissen und auch in den Benchmarks ist deutlich zu sehen, dass bei knapp 550 MB/s das Limit des Laufwerks erreicht ist. Mit den schnellsten aktuellen Notebook-SSDs, die 5.000 MB/s und mehr erreichen, kann sie sich nicht im Ansatz messen. Auf der anderen Seite wäre ein schnelleres Exemplar in diesem Notebook wenig sinnvoll, denn mehr Leistung benötigt man ohnehin nicht.

Lautstärke des N-One NBook Fly
Das N-One NBook Fly ist im Alltag zu hören, zwei Lüfter sorgen für Frischluft im Inneren des Systems. Aus normalem Sitzabstand werden häufig 40 dB erreicht, unter Volllast steigt die Lautstärke auf rund 43 dB an.
Akkulaufzeit des Dual-Display-Notebooks
Der Akku des N-One NBook Fly weist eine Kapazität von 58 Wh auf, was im Vergleich zu selbst deutlich kleineren aktuellen Notebooks mit 70 Wh wenig ist, aber gerade für ein Notebook mit zwei Displays eine kurze Akkulaufzeit verspricht.

Für den Akkutest wird das Haupt-Display auf 200 cd/m² eingestellt, der zweite Bildschirm bleibt bei rund 120 cd/m² eingeschaltet.
Mit gerade mal rund 3:45 Stunden fällt die Akkulaufzeit des N-One NBook Fly schlecht aus. Das Doppel-Display gepaart mit alter Hardware schlägt sich gleich doppelt nieder. Ohne das beiliegende 90-Watt-Netzteil mit Hohlstecker sollte man das Haus mit dem N-One NBook Fly besser nicht verlassen.
Fazit
All den Kritikpunkten, die sich im Test aufgetan haben, setzt das N-One NBook Fly lediglich zwei Aspekte entgegen: den mit unter 700 Euro niedrigen Preis und die Extravaganz mit zwei Displays, die vom Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 übernommen wurde. Das Asus ZenBook Pro Duo 15 hat dafür je nach Konfiguration mit bis zu RTX 3060 und 4K-OLED-Display aber auch einen Preis von weit über 2.000 oder gar 3.000 Euro aufgerufen. Wie das Asus-Pendant nutzt auch der Proband Windows 11 Pro. Günstig ist das N-One NBook Fly durchaus. Bei Verarbeitung und Qualität sind dafür allerdings spürbare Abstriche hinzunehmen – sogar vom sich lösenden Display abgesehen.
Im Alltag erweist sich das schmale zweite Display zudem als weniger nützlich als gedacht. Es lassen sich zwar Apps wie Slack oder Discord oder das E-Mail-Programm sehr gut auf dem Bildschirm ablegen, um sie auch auf dem Notebook immer im Blick haben zu können. Das ist im Alltag durchaus praktisch. Die schlechte Touchbedienung und die miserablen Blickwinkel machen die Nutzung aber mühsam und lassen keine Freude aufkommen.
Wem all diese Aspekte und die für aktuelle Verhältnisse nicht mehr konkurrenzfähige Hardware sowie die kurze Akkulaufzeit gleichgültig sind und einzig auf das Dual-Display-Design Wert legt, kann mit dem Coupon R63ESUNZ für 689 Euro zuschlagen – für alle anderen ist das N-One NBook Fly selbst zu diesem Preis keine gute Wahl.
