Fedora 17 + VMware Player 4 = fail?

Nabend,

nur ein kleines Problem:
Ich habe den VMware Player 4.0.3 auf Fedora 17 "installiert" (über die .bundle). Das ist alles ok, sogar das Symbol hat sich in die Gnome Shell eingebunden.
Vor dem Start müssen aber weitere Module kompiliert und in den Kernel geladen werden.
Genau das funktioniert aber irgendwie nicht. Er bricht kurz nach dem Start ab und verweist auf eine Logdatei, die aber nicht gerade aussagekräftig ist:

Das Wesentliche sind eigentlich nur die beiden letzten Zeilen. Wenn ich

/usr/bin/make -j -C /tmp/vmware-root/modules/vmmon-only auto-build  SUPPORT_SMP=1 HEADER_DIR=/lib/modules/preferred/build/include  CC=/usr/bin/gcc GREP=/usr/bin/make IS_GCC_3=no VMCCVER=4.7.0

manuell ausführe, läuft es aber ohne Fehler durch...

Was könnte hier noch falsch sein?
Ich habe momentan keine Ideen und wäre über hilfreiche Hinweise sehr dankbar.

Netterweise hinkt VMWare seit geraumer Zeit den Kernelversionen hinterher.

Das habe ich auch gesehen, aber es ist ja für 4.0.2 vom Januar.
Bei neuen Versionen von Player und/oder Kernel scheint er nicht zu funktionieren. Da muss ein neuer Patch her.

/lib/modules/preferred/

gab's übrigens auch nicht. Das habe ich schon dahin gelinkt (falls von Bedeutung). Und /lib ist ja nach dem Usrmove selbst nochmal woanders...

Hast du in der patch-modules...sh plreqver=4.0.2 auf plreqver=4.0.3 abgeändert?
