Festplatte wird nicht mehr angezeigt nach Wechsel zwischen Linux und Windows

Hallo,

ich bin neu hier und hoffe, ihr könnt mir helfen.

Ich habe 2 Rechner, einen Laptop mit Linux (Ubuntu 20.04) und einen Desktop mit Windows7.
Ich habe eine relativ neue externe Festplatte, die ich immer am Laptop unter Linux betrieben habe (ich meine, ich hatte sie mit ext4 formatiert). Ich hab eben noch ein paar Sachen unter Linux drauf kopiert. Ich hab sie dann an den Windows-Rechner eingesteckt. Da kam eine Fehlermeldung falsches Dateiformat oder so ähnlich mit der Auswahl, die Platte neu zu formatieren oder abzubrechen. Ich habe es abgebrochen, die Platte "auswerfen" lassen und dann wieder an den Laptop angeschlossen. Dort leuchtete das Lämpchen ein paar Sekunden, die Platte vibrierte auch die ganze Zeit, aber es wurde weder angezeigt, dass eine Platte angesteckt ist geschweige denn die Daten. Nachdem die Platte nicht angezeigt wurde, konnte ich sie natürlich auch nicht "sicher entfernen" und hab die Platte einfach so wieder abgezogen (beim nächsten einstecken unter Linux war wieder dasselbe Spiel).

Sowas ähnliches ist mir schon mal mit einem USB-Stick passiert beim Wechsel zwischen den beiden Rechnern/Betriebssystemen. Was immer da passiert ist, der Laptop müsste aber doch wenigstens anzeigen, dass da eine Festplatte drinsteckt?!

Was kann da los sein?

Nachtrag: Die Platte wird nicht im Dateimanager angezeigt und auch nicht, wenn ich mir alle Partitionen anzeigen lasse mit sudo blkid -o list -w /dev/null

Windows kann EXT4 nicht lesen. Aber externe Speichermedien bringen oftmals eigene Treiber mit, oder informieren Windows über den richtigen Treiber, welcher sich dann automatisch richtig installiert und da beginnt das Problem.

Schließ die Platte mal an den Windows PC an, und schau mit zB dem Linux Reader was du findest.

du kannst unter windows total commander nutzen mit einem EXT4 Plugin.
Ob du das Dateisystem davor schon geschrottet hast, weiß ich nicht.

also wenn die platte schon mit Linux mit nativem ext4 support nix mehr anzeigt,
dann wird unter windows mit totalcmd und ext4 plugin auch nix sein.

Es kann die Daten anzeigen (ob alle kann ich nicht sagen, aber sieht gut aus). Puhhhh!
Ich werd sie jetzt sicherheitshalber mal auf die Windows-Festplatte kopieren.
Wie kann ich nun mit der Platte selbst weiter verfahren? (dass sie unter Linux wieder angezeigt wird, womöglich mit den Daten drauf)

Backup von der Platte machen.

Du siehst die Platte unter Linux nicht, weil das Dateisystem fehlerhaft aka inkonsistent ist. Deswegen ein Backup der Daten machen und unter Windows auf NTFS formatieren. Nun die Platte wieder an die Linux Kiste ran, und nachschauen ob du sie jetzt wieder findest.

Gut, mache ich.
Backup ganz normal, d.h. ich hab vorhin beim Linux Reader einfach nur "Save" auf alle Daten gemacht, oder brauchs da noch was Spezielles?
Du meinst, dass dadurch, dass ich die Platte an den Windowsrechner gesteckt habe, wurde der Windowstreiber installiert und der macht das Dateisystem kaputt, nur vom Reinstecken?
 
Wie auch immer das Dateisystem ist beschädigt worden.

Also klemm sie an einen Rechner auf dem du die Daten noch sehen kannst, und mach ein Backup. Danach Platte neu formatieren und schauen ob sie wieder ordnungsgemäß funktioniert.

Eine Platte (egal wie formatiert oder gar nicht) sollte mindestens als /dev/sdx auftauchen.

Starte mal ein "dmesg -w" und steck die Platte ein, kurz warten, wieder raus und dann den Output hier posten.
 
Formatieren hat geklappt, wird jetzt auch normal unter Windows angezeigt, unter Linux hat sich nichts geändert

Da sind aber viele Platten kaputt, um welche der kaputten Platten geht es denn? Oder gibt es ein Problem mit USB?

Die "-w" Option von dmesg bedeutet "follow", d.h. es werden nur neue Einträge angezeigt. Damit kann der Betrachter das Event um das es geht besser eingrenzen.
 
1. Es ist eine interne Festplatte nicht mehr ok, die ich eigentlich vorhatte jetzt mal zu reparieren, ca. 250 GB, wird bei der Ausgabe oben in #6 angezeigt
2. Es ist ein USB-Stick dran (16 GB), wird oben in #6 angezeigt
3. Um Platte1 aus 1. zu reparieren, wollte ich die externe Festplatte nutzen, um die es im Thread geht. Das ist die, die oben nicht angezeigt wurde. Hintergrund: Ich hatte von Platte1 neulich ein ISO gemacht, da hatte ich die Platte3 noch nicht und hab das auf eine Platte geschrieben, die ich unter Windows verwende (Platte4, in #12 nicht angeschlossen). Ich hatte vorgehabt, Platte4 und Platte3 gleichzeitig unter Linux anzuschließen und die Daten von Platte4 auf Platte3 zu schieben. Platte4 wurde jedoch unter Linux nicht angezeigt, daher dachte ich, schließe ich eben Platte3 und Platte4 auf dem Wndowsrechner an und kopiere es da. Dabei ist das mit Platte3 passiert, weswegen ich den Thread aufgemacht habe.

Jetzt also die Frage, wie kriege ich Platte3 hin, dass sie wieder unter Linux angezeigt wird? (danach dann, wie kriege ich das ISO von Platte4 auf Platte3?)

Ich kann mit dem Output unter #11 nichts anfangen, aber die Platte3, die nicht angezeigt wird, ist eine externe Western Digital.

In #11 wird die WD Elements als USB Device 7, 8, 12, 14, 16 und 18 versucht zu initialisieren, das scheitert aber jedesmal (hat immer die gleiche SerialNumber: 57584A324138314C43565330). USB Device 9, 10, 11, 13, 15 und 17 sind ein USB HUB dessen Initialisierung bis 15 auch scheitert.

Aha! Kann man rauskriegen, woran die Initialisierung scheitert? Und USB Hub hab ich im Output oben zwar auch gelesen, es war aber grad keiner angeschlossen beim Ausführen von dmesg. Ich hatte allerdings vorher einen USB Hub angeschlossen und wollte darüber Platte3 (die WD Elements) und Platte4 gleichzeitig anschließen, da ich nur noch einen USB-Anschluss zur Verfügung habe. Aber den USB Hub hab ich dann entfernt, kann es sein, dass es trotzdem noch daher kommt?

Wie soll der Leser die Bezeichnungen "Platte 1", "Platte 2", usw. den Ausgaben von dmesg zuordnen?
Und es wäre auch einfacher für den Leser wenn klar wäre welche Ausgaben sich auf die problematische Platte beziehen, deshalb hatte ich ja auch das Vorgehen mit "dmesg -w" (follow) vorgeschlagen.

BTW: Kriegt die externe Platte genügend Strom über USB?

BTW II: Der Hub den du vermisst ist ein Interner.

Ich hatte es als dmesg -w ausgeführt, wie Du oben vorgeschlagen hast.
Wie kann man es überhaupt zuordnen? Für mich ist das alles neu, ich weiß nicht, wonach ich bei der Ausgabe suchen muss. Ich kenn mich auch sonst nicht gut mit solchem IT-Kram aus.
SanDiskUltra ist der eine angeschlossene USB-Stick (der mir keine Probleme macht), die interne Platte ist von Seagate (den Namen hab ich im Output aber nicht gefunden), falls das weiterhilft.

Die problematische Platte (oben Platte3 genannt) ist dann wohl das, was Inzersdorfer schreibt:

Was heißt vorweg? Also erst "sudo dmesg -C" und dann als nächsten Befehl "dmesg -w"? Und zwischen beiden Befehlen die "paar Mal Return drücken"?
