Kernel panic beim booten. Invalid OPCODE

Hi Leute,

vielleicht kann mir jemand hiermit helfen.

Ich habe hier ein TI5VG+ Sockel 7 Mainboard, also Retro Mainboard mit AMD K6-3+ 450 CPU.
Es wird ein 6.10 Kernel gebootet, welcher auf anderen Systemen, also z.B. einem AMD K7 Athlon oder einer VM einwandfrei startet.

Es wird ein kernel panic ausgegeben offenbar aufgrund von invalid opcodes, oder besser gesagt fehlender CPU features.
Ich frage mich blos welches feature der Kernel braucht, aber nicht findet.

Wenn jemand aus dem bootlog erkennen kann welches Feature fehlt, so dass ich es mit "clearcpuid" umgehen kann, wäre das sehr hilfreich.

Kompiliert wurde der Kernel mit entsprechender Optimierung für K6-2/K6-3 CPUs. Ich habe es auch mal ohne Optimierung also mit 486 Optimierung probiert, was das gleiche Ergebnis bringt.

Die Nachfolge CPU, die Athlon K7 bootet, sowie auch andere neuere CPUs.

Ich habe die Ausgabe über eine serielle Konsole umgeleitet um sie kopieren zu können.

die kernel panic tritt beim laden des init-prozesses auf. ich würde ja fast sagen, der kernel ist ok (ist ja komplett durchgelaufen), aber vielleicht ist besagte binary nicht kompatibel mit dem prozessor?

welche distri hast du denn am laufen? funktioniert die mit dem stock-kernel und nur mit deinem selbstgebauten nicht?

Es ist ANTIX Linux am laufen. Antix ist eine, wie der Name schon teilweise verrät eine auf alte/antike CPUs optmierte Linux Distribution.
Das Iso kommt mit einem auf 486er Prozessoren "optimierten" Kernel, also keine speziellen Optimierungen. Nach der Installation (in einer VM aus Zeitgründen für das Kompilieren) habe ich dann diverse 6.10er Kernel kompiliert, für diverse CPUs. Einen für PentiumPro, der auch bereits auf meinem Dual PPro läuft. Einen für AMD Athlon K7, welcher auch bereits auf meinem Athlon System läuft, und einen für das K6-3 System, welches beim Starten die Kernel panic bekommt aufgrund Illegaler CPU Instruktionen, wie man an den Opcodes sehen kann.

Ich habe dann einen Dump der ld-linux.so.2 gemacht um zu sehen was die Opcodes so aufrufen.

grep -A 20 "b7f662d5" ld-linux-disassembly.txt

Und dann gesehen, dass dort offenbar CMOV Instruktionen aufgerufen werden (obwohl die CPU kein CMOV unterstützt und ich ja auch passend für die AMD den K6 Reihe kompiliert habe).

Jetzt kompiliere ich gerade einen Kernel für 486er um fehlerhaft (im Source) zugewiesene CPU Fähigkeiten auszuschließen.

Um cmvo Instruktionen zu vermeiden habe ich versucht mit

clearcpuid=cmov

zu booten. Leider ohne Erfolg. Muss also noch an anderen Instruktionen liegen, die ich hier nicht gefunden habe bislang.

Ich kann also sagen:

Kernel bootet auf anderen Systemen (mit entsprechender Optimierung)
Es ist ein kernel.org Kernel aktuelle Version, 6.10

Muss also mit der CPU und den Fähigkeiten zusammen hängen.

Ach ja: Ein Booten mit der Iso (welche 486er Optimierungen und einen recht alten 5.10er Kernel verwendet, tritt das gleiche Problem auf)

Kommt drauf an, was man damit machen will. Man kann nicht alles einfach durch "neukompilieren" zum Laufen bringen. Es gibt Gründe, warum die Distros hinterher hinken.
