hallo,
ich bin zur zeit auf der suche nach einem ordentlichen gaming laptop. ich kopier einfach mal einen ausführlichen fragebogen, den ich schon auf einer anderen seite ausgefüllt habe, daher auch auf englisch.
bin übrigens student, bekäme also rabatt...
1) What is your budget? Up to 1000€ If I would get a huge benefit of a 100€ investment, I would pay them too, but 1000€ should be the upper limit
2) What size notebook would you prefer? My last laptop was 15.6" and I think that's perfect. Since I don't look for a desktop replacement and I'm gonna carry it around every day. So maybe 14" would be fine too.
3) Where will you buying this notebook? Europe/Germany
4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? Not really, my last laptop is an office one from Dell and I had no problems despite it being 4.5 years old. But of course it doesn't have to be a Dell.
5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed? I have no experience in this and I don't know in what state they are sold. So only if it saves me a bunch of money. Otherwise I'll go with a new one.
6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook? Surfing, office usage and gaming. In the university it will be mostly the former ones, but in summer I will work abroad for 3months+ and I dont want to miss PC gaming, so it should be able to handle games like Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3 and whatever I might play in 2012 (quite hard to tell). I think if I pick Battlefield 3 as a requirement it sets the bar high enough anyway for all the other games I wanna play. I just want to add that I'm absolutely fine if it runs at medium settings, but at least max fps.
7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both? As stated it will not be used as a desktop replacement, so I will carry it around for the most part or use it at home to watch a movie in the bed or w/e.
8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games? Yes, as mentioned in question 6). The tl;dr version: I think BF3 sets the bar high enough for all my gaming needs. And I'm happy enough with medium settings and fluent fps.
9) How many hours of battery life do you need? 2-3 hours should be the minimum, so I dont have to use cables when watching a movie or w/e in bedBut generally I have access power, so if the laptop has 3 hours of battery life, it's okay. The more the better though.
10) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK? I trust you guys.
11) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista or Windows 7), Mac OS, Linux, etc. I'm fine with no OS since I get them for free as a student, but I will use Win7
12) From the choices below, what screen resolution(s) would you prefer? I don't really have any preference in here, I guess everything that runs on 14-15" will be fine. I don't have problems with small texts either.
13) Do you want a Glossy/reflective screen or a Matte/non-glossy screen? Matte.
14) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you? Nope.
15) When are you buying this laptop? If you have the perfect one, I'll buy tomorrow. I have no problem waiting until mid-end of february though, if it's worth the wait. Later than that would be rather bad, since I need it latest at early summer.
16) How long do you want this laptop to last? As long as the battery performs decently. My current laptop is 4.5 years old and still works like a charm, despite the old specs (2x 1.7ghz, 2gb ram, 80gb). I would continue use it, if I wouldn't want to play games.
17) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 640GB? Do you want a SSD drive? Since I want to play a couple of games, it should be 500GB at least, 1TB wouldn't be bad either. SSD is probably not included in the budget, but of course I wouldn't say no.
18) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive? It's no requirement, but if one's in there it's fine. I own Blurays as well, so I wouldnt say no to that as well. But I can survive without one.
