Nein, die haben keine Fehler, das sind Seagate HDDs und da halten die Rohwerte zwei Zählerstände, die der Fehler in den ersten 4 Stellen (MSB) bei 12 stelliger hexadezimaler Anzeige wie z.B. bei CrystalDiskInfo und die der Vorgänge in den anderen 4 Bytes (LSB). Wenn Du Dir die Werte mal hexadezimal anzeigen lässt oder sie von Hand umrechnest, stellt Du fest das sie nicht länger als 8 Stellen sind bzw. noch nicht einmal so lang. Das betrifft die Attribute Seek Error Rate, Raw Read Error Rate und Hardware ECC Recovered.

Die Aktuellen Werte werden z.B. für die Suchfehler nach dieser Formel gebildet:
normalised SER = -10 log (lifetime seek errors / lifetime seeks)

In the above formula, if the drive has recorded no errors, then we would still need to set the number of errors to 1, otherwise the result would be indeterminate.

The following table correlates the normalised SER against the actual error rate:

90 — <= 1 error per 1000 million seeks
80 — <= 1 error per 100 million
70 — <= 1 error per 10 million
60 — <= 1 error per million
50 — 10 errors per million
40 — 100 errors per million
30 — 1000 errors per million
20 — 10 errors per thousand

Wie man sieht, muss auch erst eine bestimmten Anzahl von Vorgängen oder Fehlern erfolgt sein, bevor der Aktuelle Wert überhaupt errechnet wird. Davor ist der Wert 100 und ist diese Anzahl an Vorgängen (ich meine eine Millionen) erreicht fällt er ab und steigt dann wieder, sofern es nicht keine/nicht zu häufig Fehler gibt.

Mit ist bei den seagate platten auch aufgefallen, dass die rohwerte bei read error und hardware ecc eigentlich immer identisch sind. Also, dass alles gecheckt bzw korrigiert wurde. Sollten die Werte abweichen, würde ich mir sorgen machen.
Warum hardware ecc auch die reinen lesevorgänge (also nicht nur die fehler aus den ersten 4 stellen) mitzählt, weiß ich nicht genau.
Aber seagate ist da allgemein irgendwie speziell :P
 
Jede HDD hat hinter jedem phsikalsichen Sektor eine ECC und prüft diese immer auch bei jedem Lesevorgang, nur so kann sie sicherstellen, dass die gelesenen Daten korrekt sind oder diese ggf. korrigieren. Wenn das Korrigieren nicht mehr funktioniert, hat man einen schwebenden Sektor und meist werden auch erst dann wirklich Lesefehler und nicht nur wie hier Lesevorgänge vermerkt. Wie oft wirklich erfolgreich korrigiert wurden, kann man daher meist nicht sagen, aber im Prinzip sind Lesefehler bei HDDs Alltag, deshalb gibt es ja auch bei den Consumerplatten dort eine ECC, denn Consumer HW soll so billig wie möglich sein und es werden nur dort Fehler abgesichert, wo oft welche auftreten.
 
Muss ich mir da Gedanken machen, ich kann die Werte nicht interpretieren:

Einzig die 363 High_Fly_Writes sind besorgniserregen, da ist der Aktuelle Wert auch schon auf 1 gefallen, also fast am Threshold von 0 angekommen. Da würde ich mal den Händler wegen eines Umtausches ansprechen. Die Platte hat aber in der kurzen Zeit von 210 Betriebsstunden auch 45TiB geschrieben und 35TiB gelesen, also zusammen 80TiB Workload gehabt, pro Stunde wurden also 390GiB übertragen. Gedacht ist sie für 180TB im Jahr also in 8760 Betriebsstunden, also 19GiB pro Stunden und damit hast Du sie um den Faktor 20 mehr belastet als wie vorgesehen ist. Das kann man mal machen, gerade wenn das ein BurnIn Test ist, aber wenn das die Dauerlast für diese HDD sein wird, dann hast Du für den Zweck die falsche HDD ausgewählt.
 
Das war ein BurnIn-Test, 4x jeden Block beschrieben und danach die HD mit komplett mit Zufallswerten überschrieben.

Interessant war folgendes:

Am ASRock 970 Extreme3 hing eine der beiden 8TB-HDs und an einem MS-7576 ebenso, ist schon relativ alt das Board. Der lange Smart-Test lief bei beiden HDs ziemlich gleich lang.

Danach wurden beide HDs mit zufälligen Werten überschrieben:

Am MSI-Board dauerte das ein paar Tage, beim Asrock-Board war das unter einem Tag erledigt, wobei die CPU mit dem Asrock-Board ein AMD II X2 270 ist und beim MSI ein AMD II X4 635. Am MSI hängt also die HD mit den 363 High_Fly_Writes.

Gibt es einen Grund, dass das Asrock von der Aktualität der Hardware schneller fertig war?

Jetzt bin ich neugierig geworden und habe mir die andere 8TB-HD angesehen, die bereits in einem externen Gehäuse war, wo smartctl nicht funktioniert. Diese HD hat noch fast 24h Synchronisieren zusätzlich hinter sich. Ich denke, die sieht besser aus, oder?

Die hat nur 5 High-Fly Writes. Die hat aber nur 86% des Schreib- und 82% des Lesevolumens der anderen, die Tests waren also nicht für beide gleich, denn nach der gleich, denn nach "noch fast 24h Synchronisieren" hätte diese ja mehr haben müssen.
 
Komisch, ich habe exakt die gleichen Befehle zum Burin-In ausgeführt, "smartctl -t long", "badblocks -b4096 svw", Verschlüsselung eingerichtet, dh u.a. alles zufällig überschrieben und dann meine Files synchronisiert. Bei der anderen habe ich nach badblocks aufgehört.

Wie ist das mit diesen "High-Fly Writes". Unten ist eine weitere 8TB-HD, abgefragt vor dem Burn-In-Test. Diese Head_Flying_Hours was bedeuten die bei einer neuen HD?

High-Fly-Write bedeuten, dass die Köpfe bei einem Schreibvorgang nicht den korrekten Abstand zur Oberfläche der Platte hatten.
 
Ich frage mich ob diese Seagate 8TB auch ein Kandidat zum zurückschicken ist, skeptisch wurde ich, dass die Durchgänge bei meinem badblocks-Test deutlich länger dauerten. In Summe dauerte es ca. 1. Tag länger als mit den 2 anderen 8TB-HDs. Hardware_ECC_Recovered ist ja deutlich schlechter geworden.

Die Platte ist in Ordnung. Du solltest dir überlegen warum Hardware_ECC_Recovered den gleichen Wert hat wie die Lesevorgänge, das wurde hier schon besprochen (Post #2).
 
Wie die Lese-, Suchfehler und Hardware_ECC_Recovered zu interpretieren sind, hatte ich doch schon geschrieben, andere Attribute auf die man noch achten sollten, sind auch alle Bestens:

Die hat den Test ohne Probleme bestanden und trotzdem willst Du sie zurückschicken? Die SMR Platten haben eben gerade beim Schreiben zuweilen eine sehr bescheidene und auch deutlich voneinander abweichende Performance, das kann aber auch z.B. an der Anbindung der Platte liegen. Z.B. wie gerecht die HW und das OS die Bandbreite verteilen, wenn gleichzeitig Resourcen angefordert werden oder gar ein Flaschenhals vorliegt, da ist es mit Gerechtigkeit wie wir sie verstehen oft nicht weit hin.

Ja, ich verstehe dabei nur mehr ist schlechter, egal, ob der Wert Hex oder dec ist.

Verunsichert hat mich vor allem, dass der burnIn Test ca. 1 Tag länger gedauert hat. Gleicher PC, gleiches Kabel, direkt am SATA-Port, also nicht extern.

Also ihr meint diese HD soll ich behalten, jetzt wurde die HD noch mit zufälligen Werten überschrieben:

Sorry, aber ich verstehe nicht wo Dein Problem ist. SMR HDD haben eine schlechtere und vor allem nicht besonders gut vorhersagbar Schreibperformance, dass sollte doch bekannt sein.

Wenn Du nicht weiß ob es z.B. Lesefehler gab weil die Anzeige der Rohwerte von smartctl nun einmal dezimal statt hexadezimal ist, dann rechne doch einfach um. Das geht z.B. mit dem Taschenrechner von Windows ganz einfach, den calc starten, als Anzeige Programmierer wählen (geht auch mit Alt+3), denn links Dec wählen, den Wert 208942768 dort eingeben (geht auch mit Paste) und links Hex auswählen, schon steht C7436B0 in der Anzeige. Nun zählst Du die Stellen, es sind 7, also gab es noch 0 Fehler, erst wenn mehr als 8 Stellen vorhanden sind, gab es auch Fehler.

Wusste ich nicht, ist seit vielen Jahren wieder mal eine Seagate, weil die 8TB am günstigsten sind. Solange die Performance kein Qualitätsproblem ist, ist es mir egal. Die HD wird hauptsächlich mit Fotos und Camcorder-Videos synchronisiert und das änderst sich nicht, außer ich komme auf die Idee die Files umzubenennen, das alle paar Jahre schon passieren kann. Letztlich wird die HD also nach der Erstbefüllung kaum mehr verändert. Deswegen auch der Burnin-Test, da später die HD nicht mehr gestresst wird.

!. Missverständnis, ich dachte die 1. Stellen von smartctl sind hexadec zu betrachten.

Dein Windowsbeispiel im Detail nutzt mir nichts unter Linux, aber das ist nicht das Problem

Wenn Du Dir die Werte mal hexadezimal anzeigen lässt oder sie von Hand umrechnest, stellt Du fest das sie nicht länger als 8 Stellen sind bzw. noch nicht einmal so lang. Das betrifft die Attribute Seek Error Rate, Raw Read Error Rate und Hardware ECC Recovered.

ist leer, also Seek_Error_Rate hatte bis jetzt keinen Fehler, ist einfach ungewohnt bei 48437207 an 0 zu denken.

Ich hab hier zwar nur Windows 7, die Befehle sollten aber auch unter Linux gehen ;)

-v N,hex48 und schon zeigt der es als HEX an. :)

48437207 ist hexadezimal eben 0x2E317D7, damit eben 48437207 Suchvorgängen und 0 Fehler! Wie gesagt ist die dezimale Anzeige der Rohwerte bei Seagate HDDs für bestimmte Attribute eben nicht nur total untauglich, sondern sogar irreführend. Zwar mag ich Linux sehr, aber smartctl ist an der Stelle einfach suboptimal und kann auch bzgl. der Unterstützung aktueller SSDs eben CystalDiskInfo nicht das Wasser reichen. Nobody is perfect!
