Hello world.
I'm writing from Italy.

I would ask about a very strange thing, on vintage Toshiba T-Series '84 laptops. I speak on plural because I have more of one (T3100e, T3200SX, T3200 and others two with two battery packs model faulty).
The question is about behavior of the 1.44/720 Floppy Disk Drive, they are different brands but all re-marked Toshiba with 26 pins connector.
However, in this last two months I have repair, clean, test all my laptops, but in ALL I've noted that the Floppy Drive, also reversing between their in the others laptops, in 'idle' or when I work in C:\, it's try to rotate random and without any reason, sometimes blink, always random and illogically, the led in the front of drive...It's tipical of this laptops? or I hadn't never realize this? or simply I'm drunk?
I have 5 FDD with 26 connector pins of this laptop series, one of this dead, but for the tests I've used four ones
fully working.
Someone of you have the same problem? I think that isn't normal, the same result I have get also load the PC with
a MS-DOS 6.20, 6.22 Disk 1 Setup to load a default config.sys.
Here are the link to download, are light, one-two minutes..

Thank you

I have do this only for better explane with a two minutes video the content of this thread.

Its normal for a floppy to make some noises here and there, nothing Special! The only thing that could be your mistake is the floppy cable inserted in the wrong way, that would make a floppy led light alltime with noises and malfunction, if they work correctly its all good!

Thank you for your response.

This owner 34-pins Toshiba Floppy Drive has the flat cable soldered on his PCB, and the other extremity have the connector with one side with a middle-notch at idiot proof. :p , like a 'standard' IDE floppy and hard drives.
It's impossible put it wrong way.
What make me puzzled is the random rotation of the motor, like would be electrical interferences, but in the video the pc it's 'only' open, but all cables (including ground cables) are connected...
