Synology NAS 1019+, Docker und ein 7d2d Server

Hey Leute,
ich habe noch nicht so wirklich den Durchblick mit Synology, Docker und co. und deswegen ein paar Fragen !

Ich habe mir über die Synology Web GUI die Docker App auf dem NAS installiert und habe mir das Abbild zobees/7daystodie:latest (ein Zombie survival Spiel) installiert.

Der Server läuft soweit so gut. Er stürzt hin und wieder ab was ich allerdings auf den Alpha / Beta Status des Spiels schiebe. Das ist gar nicht mein Problem.

Beim Start des Containers wird auf eine XML Datei im Container zugegriffen, die serverconfig.xml (die liegt im filesystem des Containers unter /data/serverconfig.url)

In der Datei kann man Einstellungen am Server vornehmen und das gelingt mir nicht. Ich bin schon über den Container auf das Terminal gegangen und habe versucht mit dem EMACS Text Editor die Datei umzuschreiben. Jedoch ohne Erfolg, bei jedem Neustart (der Notwendig ist um Änderungen zu übernehmen) sind meine Änderungen weg.

Im Container sind Umgebungsvariablen vorhanden, so dass man irgendwie eine andere Konfigurationsdatei starten kann und man kann wohl eine Datei vom NAS in das Filesystem des Containers einbinden. (zumindest versteh ich das so)

Scheinbar kann der Server nicht auf die Datei zugreifen. Was ich nicht verstehe, weil die serverconfig.xml liegt im gleichen Ordner innerhalb des Container Filesystems.

Du musst auf jeden Fall die Konfiguration deines Servers außerhalb deines Docker-Containers liegen lassen, ansonsten wird sie bei jedern Neuerstellung des Containers zurückgesetzt. Je nach Docker-Image-Konfiguration behält sie aber bei einem Neustart (kein re-create) des Containers die Einstellungen.

Gibt es denn eine entsprechende Config-Datei auf deiner NAS unter /meda/serverconfig.xml? Wenn es die Datei nicht gibt, kann der Docker-Container nicht darauf zugreifen. Entweder also schon eine Config-Datei anlegen oder dir einen Ordner für das /data/-Verzeichnis anlegen, z.B. /media/7d2d-data und dann diesen in das /data-Verzeichnis mappen.

Die meisten Docker-Images sind so konfiguriert, dass sie dann die entsprechenden Config-Files etc. erstellen. Das ist auch übrigens die Empfehlung von 7d2d auf hub.docker.com (unter Usage): https://hub.docker.com/r/zobees/7daystodie/

Generell macht das Synology-Interface aber immer wieder Probleme, ich würde dir empfehlen bspw. Portainer über das Synology-Interface zu installieren, und dann alles über Portainer zu managen. Das ganze braucht dann aber bisschen basis-wissen, bspw. wo man die Synology-Volumes über SSH findet etc.

Die Datei die du verändern willst ist /media/serverconfig.xml auf deinem NAS. Die wird dann als serverconfig2.xml unter /data in deinem container zu finden sein.

Beim einbinden der Datei muss ich ja auch extra die Position in einem der freigegebenen Ordner auswählen wo die Datei liegt:

Ich kann ja ein Terminal zum Docker Container aufmachen und wenn ich da die bash starte und in den ordner /data/ navigiere liegt dann auch tatsächliche eine serverconfig2.xml drin ...

ich hab mal probiert den pfad bei den umgebungsvariablen weg zulassen weil standardmäßig steht da
serverconfig.xml drin und die datei liegt an der stelle im filesystem /data/serverconfig.xml

Ich dachte wenn die serverconfig2.xml im gleiche Ordner liegt müsste es ja getan sein einfach das /data/ wegzulassen ... hat aber nicht funktioniert ... er weigert sich auf die datei zuzugreifen.

genau. aber ich muss ja dann bei den umgebungsvariablen serverconfig2.xml eingeben, oder ?
ich hatte sogar schon probiert die datei unter gleichem namen wie die bereits bestehende einzubinden. aber das funktionierte auch nicht.

Mit dem Pfad, den du ihm über die Umgebungsvariable mitgibst, sollte es eigentlich funktionieren.
Was passiert denn, wenn du ihm keine Umgebungsvariable mitgibst?

Wenn es dann startet, schau dir mal die serverconfig.xml und dein eim Container an, also bspw. cat /data/serverconfig.xml und cat /data/serverconfig2.xml und ggf. nochmal ein ls -al in den jeweiligen Ordnern um zu schauen ob es ein permission-issue gibt.

Habe auch kurz überlegt, ob es an Berechtigungen auf Synology-Ebene liegen kann, dürfte aber eigentlich nicht. Was passiert, wenn du dir die Datei über die SSH-onsole anschaust (liegt unter /volumeX/media/).

Am Container kann ich so wie das gerade konfiguriert ist nicht viel machen, da er abschmiert sobald er da an dem Fehler ankommt. Aber ich schau dass ich schnell in die Konsole komme und ein Screenshot mache.

/data/7DaysToDieServer_Data/../serverconfig2.xml bedeutend /data/serverconfig2.xml, ist aber trotzdem etwas merkwürdig.

Mit das sieht schon komisch aus (anderer User und vor allem andere Gruppe).

Ich vermute, er kommt nicht damit klar, dass du ihm nur die eine Config-Datei übergibst. Leg mal auf der Synology unter /media einen Ordner 7d2d an, erstelle den Container nochmal neu und lege den ganzen Ordner /media/7d2d/ als /data/ Ordner im Container an (erstmal ohne eigene Config).

Der Container läd dann den ganzen Kram fürs spiel von Steam runter und müsste auch die serverconfig.xml erstellen, die du dann ändern kannst. Damit die Config dann geladen wird musst du vermutlich nur nochmal den Container neu starten.

Das sollte eigentlich nicht der Fall sein - er die ganze App nach /data/ kopieren...

Ansonsten probiere bitte mal folgendes: Wirf den Docker über die Synology Oberfläche weg und führe über SSH auf der Synology das docker run manuell aus (gehe davon aus, das dein Ordner /media/ auf /volume1/ liegt:

Dann hast du ihn aus irgendeinen Grund 3x ausgeführt. Vielleicht beim copy&paste was mit den Zeilenumbrüchen schief gegangen.

Lösch alle, schreibe den kompletten Befehl in eine Zeile und entferne die alle \.

Wundere dich auch nicht, wenn nach dem ausführen des Befehls nichts passiert, -d gibt an, dass der Container dann im Hintergrund laufen soll (solltest ihn danach direkt im UI von Synology sehen).

Ich denke ich werde mich jetzt von docker verabschieden und einen ubuntu server in einer VM auf dem NAS aufsetzen und versuchen da 7 days to die zum laufen zu kriegen
