Skype teilweise mit Abstürzen und Server-Problemen

Der VoIP-Dienst Skype ist aktuell so gut wie nicht benutzbar. Nutzer berichten über Abstürze des Clients, ebenso sind einige Webseiten des vor kurzem von Microsoft übernommenen Unternehmens nicht erreichbar. Als Begründung wird derzeit ein Server-Ausfall genannt.

Wie das Technik-Blog Engadget berichtet, scheinen Windows-Nutzer davon betroffen zu sein. Möglicherweise liegt es an der neuesten Version der Software. Die Applikationen für Apples iOS und Googles Android-Betriebssystem scheinen problemlos zu funktionieren. Über seinen offiziellen Twitter-Account gab Skype bekannt, dass man die Lage aktuell begutachtet und hofft, bald neue Informationen zu den Problemen bekanntgeben zu können. Bereits Ende Dezember war es zu massiven Störungen im Skype-Netzwerk gekommen. Als Verursacher wurde ein Fehler im Windows-Client ausgemacht.

Skype hat das Problem am späten Nachmittag auch selbst erkannt und bietet im eigenen Blog eine Lösung des Problems für Windows, Mac und Linux an.

Windows

1. Click Start, type run and press Enter. (On Windows XP: Click Start and then Run.)
2. Type the following and click OK. %appdata%\skype
3. Locate and delete the file shared.xml.
4. If you cannot find this file:
4.1. Click Start, type run and press Enter. (On Windows XP: Click Start and then Run.)
4.2. Type the following and click OK. control folders
4.3. In the View tab, ensure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled.
4.4. Repeat steps 1-3.
5. Restart Skype.

Mac

1. Open Finder and locate the following folder: ~/Library/Application Support/Skype
2. Delete the file shared.xml.
3. Restart Skype.

Please note that the ~ sign means your home folder. You can find your home folder by opening Finder and selecting Go > Home from the menu bar or pressing Command (Apple), Shift and H keys at the same time.

Linux

1. Go to the following folder: /home/YourLinuxUserName/.Skype
2. Delete the file shared.xml.
3. Restart Skype.
