Habe es jetzt bei meinem Asrock z170m + i7-9700 gemacht.
Das Motherboard ist quasi dafür vorbereitet. Die Kontakte sind direkt nebeneinander. SKTOCC am Motherboard zusammengelötet

Hast Du nur das Mainboard modifiziert, oder musstest Du zusätzlich die CPU Pins isolieren? Der Teil kommt nicht so klar raus, auch in den Hauptartikeln.

Habs schon rausgefunden - kommt aufs Board an ob nur der SKTOCC pin genügt, oder auch der Prozessor isoliert werden muss:
1. I was able to find the respective pins on the processor which were to be shorted by looking at the diagram from CoffeeTime. Later on, I figured out that the SuperIO controller is responsible for letting the board know that a CPU is present via the SKTOCC pin and hence grounded the SKTOCC pin with a wire from the nearest ground pad.
2. For pin isolation, Maximus VIII Hero does not need that, as the respective pins on the socket are not connected anywhere, same with the Maximus VIII Ranger. You can check this by very carefully using a multimeter and checking resistance to ground with the respective socket pins. Higher end boards like the Formula and Extreme series require pin isolation.

Sind zwei durchaus relevante Details. Zum Glück ist bei dem alten Board noch ME 11.6 drauf, sollte also ohne aufwändigeres Downgrade alles möglich sein.

Kleine Anmerkung, dass die Xeon Pendanten Skylake und kabylake auf den 1151 borads nicht laufen, kann man mit dem bios mod Coffe time und csme system tool auch lauffähig bekommen. eine gute mgl für ein upgrade wenn man einen kleinen i3 oder i5 hat und auf ein xeon mit 8 threads upgraden will
