First VR for pcvr: pico 4 vs others

mmm.... I can buy for 1500 euro a full kit index and pimax 8k plus...all new. But I don't know if has sense in 2023

It has the same visuals as Vive Pro 2, don't bother. I think in a blind test most would choose a Quest 2 or Pico 4 over a Vive Pro 2/Focus 3, money aside. If you want to get something better in different aspects than the Pico 4, my best guess would be a Pimax 8kX. But I personally wouldn't feel good getting one used.

captain, I see now that you have a 4090 with am4 platform. I am a b550 with 3600 ram 16gb and 5600x, I've always been convinced that before moving to the 40 series I should have updated the platform to avoid bottleneck.

The 5600x should be fast enough to reach steady 90 FPS in most VR games as they are not CPU heavy, but I did the upgrade for FS2020, and also because jumping from the 5800x which I sold for 200- to a 350€ 5800X3D didn't feel like throwing away that much money. But it isn't necessary, maybe more for 120FPS.

I didn't wait for 7800X3D, because besides FS2020, I haven't had a VR game where the 5800X3D would bottleneck me. But with cheaper AM5 mainboards on the way, I would probably go for AM5.
