Rekonstruierbare Abstürze nach Upgrade von 3700X/RTX2080 auf 5800X3D/3090

Die Antwort von Seasonic kam innerhalb von 6h - dafür schon mal einen Daumen hoch!
Jedoch ist auch die Antwort sehr "naja".

Erstmal meine Email:

Dear Seasonic-Team,

I'm an happy user of my Prime Titantium Fanless PSU (600W), which I purchased end of 2019.

But since I updated my GPU to a RTX 3090 my PC shuts down arbitrarily (NO RESTARTS - just shutdowns) - but especially while trying to start the Ingame-Benchmark of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.

Weirdly enough stress-testing with FurMark, 3DMark and Unigine Superposition don't cause any shut downs or what so ever.

Sometimes it is possible to play Diablo 3 for hours until it shut downs, sometime it shut downs after 30mins, sometime not at all...

First I thought the PSU doesn't have enough power for my system (Ryzen 7 5800X3D + RTX 3090).

I even limited the power draw of my CPU via BIOS to 65W and the powerlimit of the GPU with MSI Afterburner to 70% with no change in shutdown-behavior of my system - the Benchmark of AC: Odyssey was still capable of forcing the PC to shut down.

But after I've measured the total power draw directly from the power outlet during FurMark, 3DMark TimeSpy and Unigine Superposition with max. 450-460 Watts, I've investigated further and stumbled to various problems with the Prime-Series regarding the +12V sense lead (which apperntialy can be solved by adding a ferite bead ?!).

Is it possible, that my PSU is also affected of this mentioened problem?


Could you please give me any kind of support / help regarding this issue (I've added the invoice, if necessary)?


My system components are as follows:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D (no OC)
Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite
32GB DDR4-2400 RAM (no OC)
Palit RTX 3090 GamingPro (no OC - connected with two separate 8pins-cables)
Seasonic SSR-600TL (Serial# R1901AA2C2570091)

Dear ...,
Thank you for contacting Seasonic and sorry to read your issue.

First, we recommend to stick to the minimum PSU requirements for your RTX 3090. RTX 3000 is known to have power excursions that are sometimes outside ATX specs and can trigger PSU hence why the shutdown. Regarding Cultist website, information given are misleading in a way as we do not ship ATX 24-pin cable and ferrite on the sense wire is not solving 100% of this issue.

We would recommend to check the following to see if it can help:

1. Unplug all DC cables from PSU and components and plug them again. Sometimes, the issue is located there.
2. Make sure to use one dedicated PCIe cable per PCIe connector you have on your GPU. If a NVIDIA FE card, then 1 dedicated cable per PCIe connector of the adapter 12P to 2* 8 pins PCIe provided by NVIDIA.
3. Make sure that your motherboard allows PCIe 4.0 or Gen 4 if possible and is not set on Auto. Check the PCIe slot settings in the motherboard's BIOS for this.

Nägel mit Köpfen aber es müssen keine 1000 Watt sein.
Ein anständiges sollte es sein.

Jetzt bin ich erstmal am Warten auf den Ferritkern (kommt heute an) und schaue nach einem neuen NT - wobei ich immer noch gerne eins von Seasonic nehmen würde - obwohl ich bei so vielen Komponenten absolut null "Hersteller-Vorlieben" habe, bin ich bei den NTs immer sehr gut mit den Seasonics gefahren.
Jetzt bin ich wegen diesem PRIME-Serien-Problem doch etwas hin- und hergerissen.

Platinum oder gar Titanium muss es ja nicht sein, da mit meinem Spielprofil die Amortisationzeit des Mehrpreises zwischen Gold und Platinum/Titanium 15-20 Jahre betragen würde... (alles schon mal ausgerechnet).

Jetzt ist die Frage, weiter Seasonic? Und wenn ja, doch weiterhin PRIME (z.B. GX-850 oder GX-1000) oder doch sicherheitshalber die neuste Vertex-Serie (Vertex GX-1000)?

Ich hatte, bevor ich meinen Rechner verkauft habe und auf einen Mac umgestiegen bin, ein PX-750er in Kombination mit einem 5900X und einer 3080Ti.
Lief ohne Probleme.

Das Focus PX-750 übrigens, nicht das Prime.
Unterschied ist, dass das Focus PX 10 Jahre Garantie hat und das Prime PX 12 Jahre.

Also ich werde wohl direkt auf den Vertex-1000 gehen. Sicher ist sicher...

1000W sind rausgeworfenes Geld (in doppelter Hinsicht: 1. zu viel und 2. nur Gold-Zertifizierung), aber deine Entscheidung.

Was hast du denn erwartet, ist doch eine durchaus kompetente Antwort
die du da recht schnell von Seasonic erhalten hast.

@sonny2 Wie gesagt, die Kosteneinsparung zwischen Gold und Platinum ist vernachlässigbar, außer ich würde den Rechner gefühlt 24h mit entsprechender Auslastung nutzen.
Ich komme aber kaum jeden 3-4 Tag zum zocken - und dann für vielleicht 2-3h.

Und da ein NT eine Investition für viele Jahre ist gehe ich lieber den Weg mit "etwas zu viel" Leistung und dann noch zusätzlich als ATX3.0.

@Nickel Ja, ich meinte auch mehr "für mich persönlich" naja, ohne nennenswerten neuen Lösungsansatz. Hätte ja sein können, dass die Antworten "Ja, du kriegst ein neues 24Pin-Kabel und das wird zu 99% das Problem lösen".

Das liegt nicht am Kabel und der Ferritkern wird dir auch nicht weiterhelfen.

So, für euch zur Info: Das Vertex GX-1000 ist heute angekommen.

Habe im Zuge des eh erforderlichen Umbaus auch die Thematik mit dem Ferritkern probiert und dies hat KEINE Änderung am Verhalten gebracht.

Daraufhin habe ich dann das neue NT eingebaut und jetzt läuft alles ohne Murren...

Also lag es schlicht und ergreifend daran, dass ich meinem NT zuviel zugetraut habe.
