Steam startet nicht mehr

Seit kurzen will Steam nicht mehr unter EndeavourOS, was kann man da machen?

Wenn ich in der Konsole steam eintrege kommt das aus:
/usr/lib/steam/steam: Zeile 216: /home/basti/.local/share/Steam/steam.sh: Erfolg

Und unter Umständen solltest du auf eine etwas stabilere Distro wechseln, welche "besser" für Anfänger geeignet ist, z.B. Manjaro, auch basierend auf Arch - dort achtet man aber, dass freigegebene Pakete nichts schrotten ;D Passieren kann natürlich überall etwas, aber bei Manjaro (auch auf Arch basierend) - wird eben intensiver getestet und nicht einfach alles sofort freigegeben wie bei anderen Arch varianten.

Ich hab was ähnliches auf Fedora und einen lustigen workaround: 1. Family Games sind aktiv, 2 Starte ein Spiel aus nicht-Family Games. Durch die PW Abfrage gehts auf einmal.

• Steam Beta benutzen

Es gibt übrigens ein nettes Update für PlayStation Controller.

So habe jetzt Manjaro Mate installiert, Steam und mit Proton Expermintal, 8 und 7 probiert, will starten, bricht aber ab

kann nur von der gentoo front berichten: aber hier funzt steam nur, wenn der nvidia treiber ohne wayland support gebaut wurde..... schau mal, ob du wayland in dem sinne ausklammern kannst, sofern deine distri (noch) auf X setzt...

hab gestern fedora auf einem frischen minisforum um700 installiert, rpmfusion dazu, Steam(rpm) installiert, THPS 1&2 installiert. Proton experimental hat es automatisch mitgenommen. gestartet - gespielt.

Mate nutzt wohl noch X11 statt Wayland, letzteres gibt es bei Gnome und KDE Plasma.

Also anhand deiner Beschreibung lässt sich nicht sagen worans liegt oder was du gemacht hast. Proton mußt du normal nicht vorab installieren. Steam reicht. ich hab sonst nichts auf meinem System(amd/amd) installiert(gehabt). Wenn du eine Nvidia Karte hast, bleibst du erstmal bei X11. Steam per Terminal starten: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Command_line_options#Command-Line_Parameters_4 ca so: steam -debug_steamapi und mal schauen wo der fehler liegt.

Was die Unterschiede sind steht in den verlinkten Wiki Artikeln und darüberhinaus in endlosen Diskussionen online.
Ganz grob zusammengefasst, X11 wird nicht mehr weiterentwickelt, Wayland ist der Nachfolger zu dem nach und nach alle Desktop-Umgebungen (wie Mate, Xfce, etc.) migrieren. KDE Plasma und Gnome sind am weitesten bei der Umstellung, aber auch noch nicht „fertig“. Für dich mit deinem Steam Problem macht es keinen Unterschied, glaub ich.

Hab hier auch Gentoo allerdings mit AMD-Graka. Sowohl Steam als auch Lutris funktionieren hier perfekt mit Wayland.

Steam als Snap-Paket?

Deinstallieren und aus dem offiziellen Manjaro-Repo installieren. Entweder mit sudo pacman -S steam oder im Pamac/"Software" Steam aus der richtigen Quelle wählen (ich glaube "extra").
