What are you willing to pay?

Are you familiar with nle?

Davinci resolve is a professional and free nle software.

+1 for Adobe Premiere!

I'm lucky as I got the whole Creative Suite Package over my Company (also for private use).
So therefore, just using Premiere.

I'm still testing "OpenShot", Open Source Software.

I use for my professional work "Avid Media Composer" and in some cases and for smaller privat projects "Adobe Premiere Pro"

I will never understand how people pay happily for the Adobe subscription model, knowing there are better, more stable and powerful alternatives that are cheaper or even free.

You did not get the video at all...

If you are a professional, there are 4 options in the industry:

- Avid Media Composer (nearly every major TV studio and production company uses it)

- adobe suite (everyone uses it, at least for vfx and graphics, even if the studio uses avid, there will be adobe workstations for after effects)

- davinci resolve (a lot of cinematic use, nearly everyone uses it for color correction, but the editor is amazing as well)

- final cut pro (apple fans - I know of one company in cologne, that uses final cut as the main editing suite)

Are there any professionals here? I think that was not the point of this thread. And what the industry uses is not necessarily the best choice for the individual. That was my point and the video is just there to proof that even professionals are not happy, but don't really have an option.

The quality of Adobe Software is deteriorating fast. Especially After Effects is barely usable anymore and Premiere seems to get less stable with every update. Photoshop and Lightroom are gnawing slow and fail to proper utilize modern Hardware. It is just a mess. And all that on top of this "rent the software" Model that slowly drains you of your money.
As an individual, I fail to see any reason why you should use Adobe Software anymore.

That sounds a tad different than:

50 bucks a month is nothing, when the software makes you worth 1000 a day.

What are the options that can give everything the adobe suite brings?

@topic
as I said, davinci rwsolve is a powerfull nle with a lot of extra features, that is perfectly fine in the free version and even the studio version (more codecs, effects and some additional feature) costs just ~300€, which is stupid cheap for that software.

People <-> Professionals.
One of them always has the choice what software they use. But tend to use what professionals use, even if they themselves may not be so happy with the tool they have to use.

Premiere -> Davinci Resolve
After Effects -> Blender (VERY powerful VFX-Tool), DR Fusion, NUKE
Lightroom -> Capture One, Skylum Luminar, DxO Photo Lab, Darktable
Photoshop -> Affinity Photo, Krita, and yes, even Gimp if you give it a chance.
Illustrator -> Affinity Designer, Inkscape
InDesign -> Scribus, Affinity Publisher

One of the options above is always FOSS or at lest free to use. So you could get by without paying anything.

And Edius Pro from Grass Valley. Used in many Broadcast studios worldwide. I always wonder why this is overlooked or forgotten again. I use this (now Edius Pro 9, didn't made the update to X because Firewire Support was quit) over 12 years now.
