Windows Home Server WHS 2011 - reicht 40GB-SSD?

Wäre eine Crucial M4 besser geeignet als die 40GB Intel G2?
Ich kann schwer einschätzen, ob und wenn ja welche SSD für dieses Szenario am sinnvollsten ist. Die Intel hatte ich halt noch da und die erschienen mir auch recht langlebig und zuverlässig, wobei die neueren M4 und co. eben etwas schneller sind.

Im Prinzip reicht auch eine normale HDD. Von der Geschwindigkeit wirst du sowieso nicht viel merken.

Außer beim Einschalten, aber das geht ja dank Lightsout und Standby eh flott.

Nabend zusammen,

ich habe eine Kingston V300 60GB SSD und mir eine .iso von einer Windows Home Server 2011 64bit Original-DVD auf einen bootbaren USB-Stick gepackt und die cfg.ini mit folgendem Inhalt direkt ins Rootverzeichnis (setup.exe und co.) gepackt

dennoch schlägt das Setup auf der Stelle fehl. Es hängt sich auch an der Partition Size auf. Was mache ich hier nur falsch ???

er sagt mir "No value supplied, using default value 61440" dass die cfg.ini scheinbar garnicht gelesen wird, obwohl sie im Rootverzeichnis liegt ???

Wieso hast du denn die Zeile

weggelassen?

Ich habe mittlerweile keinen WHS mehr und nutze Windows 8, deswegen kann ich das nicht testen. Aber ich bin der Meinung ohne die geht es nicht (dann nur bis 72GB).

ich habe auch anfangs die Zeilen aus Kommentar #18 übernommen, genau das gleiche Problem. Er scheint die cfg.ini einfach nicht zu lesen

und es taucht nirgends auf, dass er die cfg.ini liest. normalerweise würde dort folgendes stehen

Lad doch mal die Datei hoch bzw. poste einen Screenshot vom Root Verzeichnis des USB-Sticks.

Hast du erst mal nur die Platte dran auf die installiert werden soll und den Installations-USB-Stick und alle anderen nicht angeschlossen?

tja was sagt man dazu, habe die gleiche cfg.ini mal auf einen 2. USB-Stick kopiert und jenen zusätzlich mit angeschlossen und siehe da das Setup erkennt jene Datei vom anderen Stick ....

Aber hast du nicht die Installationsdateien auf den 1. USB Stick kopiert?

Installationsdateien mit cfg.ini auf Stick 1 -> Setup findet cfg.ini nicht
Installationsdateien auf Stick 1 und cfg.ini auf Stick 2 -> Setup findet die cfg.ini
wieso auch immer aber die Hauptsache ist, es klappt

EDIT: hm mit nem USB-Stick als 2. Datenträger klappt es nicht, aber mit einer externen Festplatte. Versteh das mal einer
liegt wohl glaube ich daran, dass das BIOS schon den USB-Stick als "bootable" erkennt. Also nicht als reinen Datenträger.
