Hi. I have 12900K stock

32 GB 2x16 GB DDR4 3600mhz

Palit Gamerock Pro OC rtx 4090

1300W Seasonic Platinum Prime

Aorus Elite DDR4 Z690

Windows 11 2H22. Updated new nvidia drivers.

I used 1440P,DLSS PERFORMANCE,RT ULTRA,rest ultra for testing fps.

I compared the same area with someone with 13900K and Rtx 4090.
Tested on the same day time>night.
I have between 90-100fps. When he get between 110-130fps. So i have 30 fps lower.

120 fps,85% usage.

I have 95 fps 75% usage.

Ah its not because he have 13900K because its max 5-10 fps difference between 12900k and 13900k and not memory.

Ok any ideas?

No. Its CPU Bottleneck. Still. Take a look at the GPU Usage. Anything under 99% GPU usage usually means cpu bottleneck.

There is not much you can do. May overclocking helps? Dont know much about the latest intel cpus..

It also often depens on the game itself. Cyberpunk in your test got higher fps with a new CPU. Means the higher clock or the higher IPC get you more FPS.

I dont know how well coded cuperpunk is, but this can change in other games. Depends, how CPU bounded the game is. Also depends on your Settings. You could also setup more GPU heavy settings. I would guess, there is then no big difference between both cpus.

13xxxx 5,5 GHz ... 12xxx 4,9 GHz

12 percent more clock Speed ... And ipc improvements = 30 FPS difference when CPU ist the limitet faktor.

And think about your Screenshot.. 89 vs 93 Percent GPU usage ... Both scenes are CPU limited.

I am sorry but this sounds quite like "first world problems"
All of the tests I have read indicate that it is hard to use all of the power of a RTX4090 and in some scenarios even the fastest Intel or AMD CPUs cannot use all of the available power of your graphics card.
You are asking if a 13th Intel might be better than your 12th gen ?
Quick answer: Sure ! Its the faster CPU and will for sure affect your FPS in certain games with certain settings and resolution

My honest opinion ? switching from a 12th gen to a 13th gen in your case is simply burning money especially when I see the amount of frames you got with your actual setup.
It is up to you if you switch the CPU - I would not do it considering that you still got DDR4 which might also affect the FPS compared to DDR5.
You want the maximum FPS possible ? Switch to a 13th gen, a DDR5 mainboard and also DDR5
In this case you got all maxed out possible in terms of hardware

But on youtube reviews there are max 5-9 fps differences between 12900k and 13900K. Not 30 fps

For comparison reason i get nearly 112 FPS in these settings you mentioned above in ingame benchmark, also 12900k stock. I am on B660 and 3800CL16 and my 4090 runs at 68% PL .

Maybe its due to the ram difference and different system optimization.

yeah but benchmark scenes are not demanding like some game areas

Youtube reviews ? Okay.. do they have exactly the same HW like yours ? Do they use excatly the same installed software than you ? If no then there will always be differencies

For comparison reason i get nearly 100 FPS in these settings you mentioned above in ingame benchmark, also 12900k power limit 125Watt. I am on z690 and 4400CL19 and my 3090ti runs at stock

sthg will always bottleneck your system.
In this scene it's the GPU in the next the CPU.
What precisely is bothering you?

I have between 90-100fps and lower gpu usage. When he get between 110-130fps. So i have 30 fps lower.
