On the Keycool 22 switch tester I came to the following conclusions:
• Concerning linear heavy switches, as MX black, they lack a “natural typing flow”, because too heavy. Crappy feel.
• Concerning linear light-weighted switches, as MX Red, I like them much, they give you the flow in your fingers. Surprisingly no crappy feel!
• Concerning tactile non-clicky switches, they feel like crap alltogether, except MX Ergo Clear, these have a feel of it’s own, low resistance, quite a flow, not bad, and not awesome.
• Concerning tactily clicky switches, the heavier they are the less crappy feel. However, this may be an illusion, because pressing one(!) MX green key is far too easy and cannot simulate a keyboard full of MX green. So it may be, that they’ll turn out beeing too heavy in a real typing situation. I’m still undecisive concerning tactile clicky switches.
And the last argument is why I don’t consider this Keycool thing as a good typing simulator. You can get a rough impression, but for a definitive judgement you need to test a switch mechanism on a real keyboard.
