MKV H.265 und H.264 Dateigröße

Ich habe auch im Handbrake nichts von CUDA für NVidia gefunden.

Das nennt sich NVENC, da wird über die Grafikkarte encodiert. Wird von Handbrake unterstützt.

Bisher kommt es mir so vor, dass Handbrake auch bei den Filmen, die im DVDFab recht schnell gingen, auch recht lange braucht. Ich habe auch im Handbrake nichts von CUDA für NVidia gefunden.

Handbrake unterstützt NVENC in h.264 und h.265, definitiv. Zur Not schaust Du mal in den Settings, da kann man dies ausdrücklich aktivieren.

Über die GPU encoden ist halt Kontraproduktiv wenn man eine möglichst gute Kompression anstrebt. Auch die aktuelle Generation ist für mehr als Liveencoding zum Streamen nicht zu gebrauchen.

Fürs rippen ohne CUDA scheint mein PC zu alt zu sein. Da meine Tonprobleme sehr selten geworden sind, mein Anspruch nicht so hoch ist und ich nur aus reiner Neugier mit H265 experimentiert habe, bleibe ich bei meinem bekannten DVDFab. Das ist bei den meisten BlueRays recht schnell und liefert mir ein Bild, welches ich sehr sehr gut finde.
Gewisse Filme verbrauchen im H265 deutlich weniger Speicherplatz und bei denen werde ich es wohl auch mal anwenden. Warum die eine BlueRay im H265 größer ist als im H264 bleibt wohl ein Rätsel.

Ich danke allen, die mir Tipps gegeben haben.

Mit dem Tool MediaInfo kann man sich Details zu der Datei angucken. Vermutlich hat die Datei mit dem h265 Codec einfach eine höhere Bitrate.

Es lässt sich schon gut was einsparen, ohne das man beim Bild einen Qualitätsunterschied sieht.

Steht das Main 10 nicht für 10 Bit Encoding? Wäre doch völlig überflüssig für einen 8 Bit Film.

@_anonymous0815_ Ja, eigentlich schon, aber ich nutze wirklich immer die gleichen Settings, egal ob BD/UHD.
RipBot264: Filme per Batch-Funktion einfügen, er bereitet alles vor, ich muss nur die Untertitel manuell hinzufügen (weil ich nur die forced im .srt-Format haben will) und dann auf Start klicken. Durch Voreinstellungen passieren bspw. Sachen wie Autocrop vom Bild etc.

Ich kann das gerne mal testen (?), aber ich glaube das macht keinen bis minimal was an der Dateigröße. Das Bild sollte darunter eigentlich in keiner Weise leiden.

Programmversionen und Einstellungen sind bei beiden Encodes identisch gewesen.

und hatte eigentlich nur vor, Festplattenplatz zu sparen.

5TB Festplatte = 100€ = Platz für 250 Dateien a 20GB = Speicherpreis pro Datei 40 Cent.
Wieviel Strom verbraucht dein PC und wie lange dauert das umwandeln/komprimieren ?

Bei 150W und 4h sind es 600W also bei 35 Cent pro kwh ergibt das Stromkosten in Höhe von 21 Cent.
Selbst wenn die Datei dann nur noch 10GB groß ist hast du 1 Cent Verlust gemacht + Zeit verschwendet.

Bei DVDFab am besten immer MKV.Passthrough also Video und Audio in 1:1 Qualität rippen/kopieren.
Die Dauer hängt dann eigentlich nur noch von der Einlesegeschwindigkeit deines Blu-Ray Laufwerks ab.

Ich rippe gerade ein paar Filme in H265 - höchste Qualität und den Ton 1:1. Ich finde das Bild super und die meisten Filme werden deutlich kleiner als H264.
Über die Kosten mache ich mir keine Gedanken, denn meine NAS ist riesig und es ist eh nur ein Hobby, die eigenen Filme auf NAS greifbar zu haben.

Die bisherigen Tonprobleme lagen wohl an meinem alten TV Gerät, denn mit dem Feuer Stick läuft alles super.

Dieser Satz ergibt keinen Sinn denn aus welchem Grund sonst will man Speicherplatz sparen ?
Wenn du jetzt 250 Dateien umwandelst/komprimierst und dafür ~100€ Stromkosten bezahlst,
dann hättest du gleich eine neue Festplatte kaufen können und hättest Energie+Zeit gespart !

Das ist kein Hobby sondern ein Tick. Ein Hobby ist wenn du den Content in bestmöglicher Bild
und Ton Qualität auf einem hochwertigen Display und hochwertiger Soundanlage konsumierst
sprich 77" OLED oder ggf. Beamer und Surroundanlage. Das Hobby nennt sich dann Heimkino.

Schon verwunderlich, dass jetzt nur noch über meine Gründe und meine persönlichen Angaben diskutiert wird. Das ich einen Tick habe, weiß ich schon lange. Trotzdem gehe ich nicht gleich in den nächsten Laden und kauf mir eine größere NAS, sondern sorge in meiner Freizeit dafür, dass noch etwas Platz für neue Filme bleibt oder entsteht. Und wie ich mein Geld ausgebe, muß man schon mir überlassen.

Ich sehe hier immer wieder, dass man für x264 und x265 gleiche CRF Settings verwendet bzw. auch empfiehlt. Vielleicht machen hier manche GUIs eine Umwandlung, das weiß ich nicht. Generell müssen die Werte aber nicht gleich sein, um gleiche Qualität zu haben.

Das ffmpeg Wiki schreibt z.B. zu x265:

CRF affects the quality. The default is 28, and it should visually correspond to libx264 video at CRF 23, but result in about half the file size.

Wenn das Encoding langsam ist kann man übrigens auch das Preset ändern. Dann geht das auch recht flott.
