Crazy Horses by the Osmonds was released in 1972 and reached number 14 in the US charts and number 2 in the UK charts.
This song was initially banned in South Africa as 'horses' is
sometimes used as a slang term for heroin and it was wrongly assumed
that this song was about drugs.
This song is actually about air pollution, it describes the
pollution given out by cars and buses and the term 'crazy horses' is
actually referring to horsepower.
It is describing the harm to the environment that these exhaust
fumes are causing and that it is only getting worse as the amount of
cars, buses, lorries, motorbikes etc are multiplying.
It is the fault of mankind for the invention of these machines and now we can't do anything about it.
It talks about the smoke clouding up the sky and the crazy horses
and their riders are the everyday people driving their cars and
motorbikes. Like you and I.
