Danke für die Files.
Das Update schlägt fehl weil Dateien vom vorherigen Update vermisst werden und gleichzeitig bemängelt die Update Routine das die Dateien nicht unkomprimiert vorhanden sind. Das ist der Auszug aus dem betreffenden Update Log:

Man könnte den Fehler händisch fixen oder Du führst ein In-place Upgrade durch.
Wenn Du Dich für Händisch entscheiden solltest, werde ich noch einige Dateien benötigen und es kann sein, das es mehrere Schritte bedarf bis der Fehler gefixt ist.

Lass es mich wissen, welchen Weg Du gehen willst.
Ich bin erstmal raus für einige Stunden.

hat sich leider NICHT erledigt. Vorhin ist das Update erneut aufgetaucht und es stand wieder das es nicht installiert wurde. Seltsam ist das eigentlich. Heute morgen wurde es installiert ohne irgendeine Fehlermeldung.

Wenn die Tests mehrheitlich erfolgreich sind, wird die jeweilige Aktualisierung in den nächsten regulären Patchday - die B-Woche - aufgenommen und dann dort verteilt. Folglich sollte KB5000842 (Build 19042.906) Einzug in den kommenden Patchday des Monats April halten, wenn die Nutzer keine Probleme nach der Installation von KB5000842 melden.

Dann hat du 20H2, die Systemdateien sind repariert wie beim Inplace Update und nach 1x Windows update ausführen bist du aktuell.

@Philipp12302 ja, bei den download von windows defender handelt es sich um eine "stille installation", d.h. du wartest nach dem installieren 2-3 minuten und startest dann den Pc neu und versuchst das nochmal mit dem update. Das steht aber auch auf der Seite mit dazu.

hallo, ich entscheide mich gerade für die Variante download von 20H2. Warum ich das noch nicht habe, entzieht sich meiner Kenntnis. Immer wenn Updates vorhanden waren, habe ich diese installiert. Nur vor noch nicht allzu langer Zeit, hatte ich auch diese Drucker Probleme und als Lösung wurde mir im I-Net genannt, dieses Update Nummer weiß ich nicht mehr zu deinstallieren. Genau das habe ich gemacht, Drucker Probleme waren behoben. Nur danach kam dann dieses leidige jetzige Problem. Im Moment warte ich bis der Download abgeschlossen ist, gerade erst bei 40%. Sobald ich das installiert habe werde ich berichten.
So das Update ist nun durch, bis auf die lange Dauer hat alles funktioniert.

Kann man eigentlich diese Ordner löschen: Windows.old, Windows10Upgrade, $GetCurrent, $WinREAgent. Sieht so aus als seien diese nach dem Update angelegt worden.

Das wird vermutlich auch der Auslöser des Problems gewesen sein.
Mit dem In-place Upgrade hast Du die Sache ja gefixt.
