[Vorstellung] NoteBook FanControl (NBFC)

Ich habe letzte Woche auch das Asus UX51VZ bekommen.
Wie viele andere habe auch ich das Problem mit den Lüftern, allerdings verhält es sich bei mir nochmal etwas anders.

(Aktuelles BIOS und Chipset Driver ist drauf)

Mit NBFC bekomme ich das Teil zum schweigen, allerdings nicht sehr lange. Die CPU Temperatur klettert nach oben bis der Lüfter angeht. Da mir die 60° als Grenze aber zu hoch erschienen, hab ich die Lüfter bei überschreiten von 50° auf 12,5% laufen. Temperatur fällt auf 43°, die Lüfter gehen aus. 5-10 Minuten ruhe und dann wird es wieder laut.

Gestern hab ich allerdings eine Bemerkung gemacht. Wenn ich zB. den Internetexplorer mit der Nvidia Karte starte, wird der rechte Lüfter der ohne NBFC IMMER dreht leiser. Schließe ich den IE wieder wird es momentan wieder lauter.
Habt ihr eine Idee woran das liegen könnte?

Mit der neusten Mainboardversion des UX32VD kann man mit NBFC nur noch steuern ob der Lüfter an oder aus ist.

Hallo und vielen Dank für das Programm. Auf meinem Asus UX31A unter Win7 Home Premium läuft es perfekt, leider habe ich aber jedes Mal Probleme beim Herunterfahren und erhalte die Fehlermeldung zu WINSRV ID:10001 "Resetting Embedded Controller" und im Ereignisprotokoll "Von der folgenden Anwendung wurde versucht, das Herunterfahren zu unterbinden: NoteBookFanControl.exe."
Ich möchte das Programm gerne verwenden, möchte es aber nicht jedes Mal manuell vor dem ShutDown beenden müssen.

Nun meine Fragen: Ist dieser Fehler in dieser Form bekannt? Hat jemand eine Idee, wie eine Batch Datei aussehen könnte, mit der ich den ShutDown Button hinterlege, damit zuerst NBFC geschlossen wird und dann WIN7 herunterfährt?

Is it possible that any of EC registers change when the fan speed up?
I have a Samsung 350e7c, when I start Prime95 and the fan speed up, no one registers change his value.

I have tried NoteBook FanControl version 0.14.4.60.beta and I found out the next problem on system’s restart or shutdown when the NBFC is active:

In the next two cases the result is the same as on the above picture:

1) On XP Pro (32-bit) with SP3:

• Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile

2) On XP Pro (32-bit) with SP3:

• Microsoft .NET Framework 4
• All available to the moment .NET updates were applied

Side effect:
I am getting occasionally BSOD that was caused by the NTFS driver and resulting in corrupted NTFS file system on shutdown/restart. This is happened only when NBFC is active.

Note:
If I close the NBFC first, then there are no errors and the restart/shutdown are without a problem.

I've just noticed pretty dangerous behavior when using NBFC on Windows 8: The program does not reset controller upon restarting OS (may be caused by Windows 8 killing NBFC too fast to let it do it). So, if a laptop fan is not running when rebooting, it stays that way until NBFC is relaunched: in my case (existing Win 8 and booting Win 7) it kicked in when the CPU temperature was about 100 °C.

Be careful.

Naja, dass sich die CPU schnell erhitzt kann NBFC nicht verhindern. Die 60°C sollten der CPU allerdings nicht schaden, also könntest du die Config auch so lassen wie sie ist.

Open the config window, create a new config and insert your offsets.
For further information have a look at the user manual

Das NBFC versucht den Shutdown hinauszuzögern ist Absicht, denn bei manchen Notebooks muss der EC resetted werden und das benötigt hin und wieder etwas Zeit.
Ich arbeite daran die momentane Lösung zu verbessern.

I'm aware of this problem. I didn't test NBFC on XP, so I didn't recognize that one WinAPI Method I'm using is not supported by XP.
I will fix this in the next version.

I'm also running Win 8 on a 6465b and I have never noticed this behavior. NBFC always resets the EC properly.
Have you (or maybe some "tuning software") changed the amount of time windows grants applications on shutdown before it force closes them?

Hallo zusammen, hab mir jetzt auch mal dieses Programm heruntergeladen für mein Fujitsu Lifebook S6420. Allerdings komme ich noch nciht so recht damit zurecht. bevor ich mich jetzt tiefergehend mit der Materie befasse, hat vielleicht schon jemand mit dem gleichen Notebook die passenden Einstellungen?

I'm aware of this problem. I didn't test NBFC on XP, so I didn't recognize that one WinAPI Method I'm using is not supported by XP.
I will fix this in the next version.

If this will help I have tested version 0.12.5.43 on the same system and there were no problems on restart or shutdown (three restarts and two shutdowns). I don’t know whether it will cause the BSOD because I am using 0.14.4.60.​

Are you really sure NBFC causes these problems?

Yes, definitely! I am sure because:

• I am using my laptop from 2008 and I have never got a BSOD. The last installed application was in 2010 and from then only the Windows updates are applied when they are released.
• The NBFC is the only one .Net 4 application on the system.
• Until now I have got four BSODes randomly on shutdown/restart only when the NBFC was active. Three of them point at ntfs.sys driver and one at win32k.sys as a cause. I don’t have any problem if I close NBFC and then perform shutdown or restart.

My guess here is that the interaction between NBFC and .Net 4 is initiating a state (probably OS bug) that brakes the system and it happens randomly over system’s drivers on restart/shutdown.​

Just FYI on my XP I have the next .Net versions:

• .Net Compact Framework 1.0 SP3
• .Net Compact Framework 2.0
• .Net Framework 1.0 & 1.1
• .Net Framework 2.0 SP2
• .Net Framework 3.0 SP2
• .Net Framework 3.5 SP1

After the installation of .Net Framework 4 Client Profile my system visibly is started and performed slowly. I have no problems with the installed application. There are no viruses too and the Event log is clear from errors.

Personally I prefer NBFC to be based on .Net version below 4.0 for XP because .Net 4 is occupied about 180 MB on HDD, consuming more memory and slow down the system performance.

I will expect the next NBFC version and will give you my feedback.

I've encounter some problem in RW. I've try to stress my CPU and found 64 & 66 position numbers relatively going up, but when I try to edit any of both, they can't hold the number inputted, it just change back to what it shows before the entry.



Any help would be deep appreciated!

My Laptop is Sony VAIO VPCEC1S1E, 2010 bought, Core i5 M 430 @ 2.27GHz, HM55;
Software is prepared well, Win7, .Net Framework client 4.0.

And, another feedback, the NBFC window text will cover some part of input box, maybe it's because of my system lang set to Chinese. Hope next version could leave more space for all caption. Thanks.

bin neu hier und brauch dringend ein Programm mit dem ich meinen Lüfter auf Touren bringen kann...zzt. läuft er bei 94°C CPU Temperatur auf 20% was ich als schlechten Scherz ansehe. Erreicht die CPU 95°C so taktet sie runter bis die FPS ingame nur noch 1/3 von dem sind was sie sein sollten (liegt nich an der Graka).

Mein Laptop ist ein Acer Aspire 7750g und ich bekomms nicht auf die Reihe den Lüfter höher zu drehen.
Speedfan etc funktioniert alles nicht.
Kann vll jemand ein config für den 7750g erstellen?

Hallo,
leider funktioniert bei mir das Programm nicht. Ich habe ein Probook 4540s, bloß leider steuert es meinen Lüfter mit NBFC nicht an mit der hinterlegten Config fürs Probook.
Zu den Anzeigewerten. Auf der Anzeige steht, wenn der Lüfter langsam läuft, -17,5 %.
Mir ist der Rechner jetzt ein paar mal abgeschmiert erst tut die Tastatur nicht mehr und dann ist der ganz ausgegangen . Temperatur war laut der Anzeige nicht so hoch ca. bei 65C. Aber ich weiss nicht, ob die Wert überhaupt stimmen. Manchmal sind die Anzeigewerte perfekt Fan Speed 0 Ziel und 0 current. aber tatsächlich läuft der Lüfter dann recht laut.
und wenn der Lüfter einmal an ist geht er kaum noch aus, obwohl die Anzeigewerte unter 40C sind.
Wenn ich den Stresstest mache geht der Rechner auch aus.

Hat jemand eine Idee was nicht stimmen könnte?danke.

I plan to release it later this month or early next month.
The hardest part of the work is done. The service and the new UI are working perfectly on my system, but it needs to be tested on other systems as well.
Additionaly I have to write an installer and a completely new config editor.

Das ist eine gute Idee.
Das User Manual erklärt nicht nur die Erstellung von Configs, sondern allgemein die FUnktionsweise von NBFC und was man beim Betrieb beachten sollte, z.B. das hier:

Additionally on some notebooks there is a BIOS option named "fan always on while on AC power" (or similar).
You have to deactivate this option in order to give NBFC the opportunity to completely deactivate the fan.

Eventuell hast du auch Software installiert, dazwischen funkt. Oder mit deinem System stimmt allgemein etwas nicht.
Dass es bei 65°C einfach abstürzt ist zumindest nicht normal.
