News Betrug mit Seagate-Festplatten: Händler verkaufen gebrauchte HDDs als Neuware

Sorry ich verstehe nicht, wie muss ich smartctl -l farm /dev/sd[X] eingeben, dass ich zu einem Ergebnis komme?
 
Smartctrl für Windows in der Version 7.4 herunterladen.
Nach der Installation ein cmd Fenster (als Administrator!) öffnen und ins bin Verzeichnis gehen.
Dort smartctl -l farm /dev/sda (für die erste Platte) eingeben.
/dev/sda ist Linux, funktioniert aber mit smartctl auch so in Windows.

fände ich eine gute Theorie. aber dann müssten auch die read/write bzw. spindle power on enorm hoch sein. Chia gönnt der Platte eigentlich keine Idle Power On.

C:\Program Files\smartmontools\bin>smartctl -l farm /dev/sd[X]

Ersetze [X] (die eckigen Klammern löschen) durch a,b,c bis du die Werte für deine Seagate Platte bekommst, solltest du eine nicht Seagate Platte testen wollen wird das Programm meckern da FARM nur bei Seagte funktioniert.

Mal was anderes, meine Seagate Exos kam sauber eingeschweisst in der Schutzfolie an, ist jetzt 2 Wochen etwa im Betrieb, Power Cycle Count und Power on Hours stimmen soweit, aber 90 Hardware Reset Count machen mich stutzig, genauso wie das Assembly Date 4262 das auf 2041 hinweist, könnten die 2 Werte als Indiz für die Manipulation von FARM-Werten hindeuten? Die Platte ist als neues Produkt regulär bei Mindfactory gekauft wurden.

7.4 ist seit August 2023 stable. Wo schaust du denn?

Ich bin gespannt, wer das zu verantworten hat. Ich kann mir kaum vorstellen, dass all diese beteiligten Händler konspirativ zusammengearbeitet haben. Das riecht mir eher nach Seagate, die dort Rückläufer-Produkte wieder in den Umlauf bringen. Ich bin mit Seagate eh durch. Ich betreibe 8x8 TB Iron Wolf Pro, 2 davon musste ich mittlerweile einschicken als Garantiefall. Das geht in der Regel flott (3-4 Tage, bis ein Ersatzmodell gesendet wird), aber der Hustle des Raid-Rebuild ist ätzend. Ich kaufe neue Platten für insgesamt weit über 1000€, damit ich ein paar Jahre Ruhe habe und vllt mal nach 5 Jahren eine auf Server-Dauerbetrieb ausgelegte Platte ausfällt, aber dass ich 2/8 innerhalb der Garantiezeit von 2 Jahren zurückschicken muss, das habe ich noch nie erlebt.

Das Vertriebsmodell hat Temu aber auch nicht erfunden, sondern gibt es im Prinzip schon ewig. Nennt sich Dropshipping oder auf Deutsch "Streckengeschäft". Das Verkauft der Händler die Ware nicht aus seinem Lager, sondern direkt vom Lieferanten/Großhändler.

Bei deutschen Händlern macht das, meiner Erinnerung nach, bspow. Jacob Elektronik schon seit mindestens 10 Jahren.

Als Schweizer kaufe ich hier in der Schweiz sehr viel dort ein, respektive bei Digitec (gehören ja zusammen).
Dass so viele Shops betroffen sind deutet mMn darauf hin, dass irgendwo in der Zulieferkette diese Gebrauchtware eingeschleust wird, also schon VOR denjenigen, die wie Galaxus an die Endkunden verkaufen.

Der Kauf ist auch erst knapp 1,5 Monate her.
Die Modellnummer ist unter den auffälligen HDDs.

Also genug Anhaltspunkte, wie gesagt sobald ich Zeit für die Prüfung habe, werde ich das Ergebnis entsprechend an meine bisherigen Posts anhängen.

Ich würde mich freuen, wenn ich mich irre.
 
Mich hat es anscheinend auch erwischt. Ohne zufällig auf diesen Thread zu stoßen hätte ich es auch nicht gemerkt. Wer checkt als Normaluser neue HDDs schon genauer, außer das Ding gleich mal brutal zu testen (die übliche Kurve mit höherer Ausfallwahrscheinlichkeit zu Beginn oder erst ganz spät) oder einfach nur die SMART-Werte zu checken, um Ausfälle zu Beginn gleich zu bemerken?

Vor gut einer Woche kamen zwei 14 TB Seagate X X16 ST14000NM001G an, über Mindfactory bestellt. Neuware, nichts mit refurb oder recertified.

Was mich auch stutzig macht: Sollten schon die Alarmglocken läuten, wenn bei Prüfung der Herstellergarantie auf der Seagate-Seite bei angeblicher Neuware diese schon im Dezember 2025 ausläuft? Gilt für BEIDE Platten.

(Bevor Fragen kommen: JA ich machee Backups, auf einer ext. HDD und zu einer Storage Box einmal die Woche)

Hallo zusammen,

Bein auch betroffen, habe Heute meine Festplatte bekommen, das war ein Ersatz da die Erste die sie mir geschickt haben erst gar nicht lief.
Gleich getestet, über 22000 Stunden !
Jetzt bin ich mal gespammt wie und ob die Rückabwicklung bei MF funktioniert.

PS: Ich brauche aber trotzdem einen Ersatz ( 18 TB oder grösser) hat jemand ne Empfehlung zum bedenkenlosen Kauf ?

Das ist definitiv Betrug. Deshalb nach Feststellen Strafanzeige gegen den Verkäufer stellen.
Verkäufer sind in den Fällen die Online-Shops, mit denen man einen Kaufvertrag abgeschlossen hat.

Sorry, normalerweise tangieren mich solche Kommentare nicht so, aber in dieser Situation kann ich echt nicht gelassen bleiben..
Ich bin verwirrt. Ja, dass die Platten gebraucht sind sieht man, die smart werte sind zurückgesetzt -> klare täuschungsabsicht, sauerei, ok.
Ich sehe bei den geposteten FARM werten aber eben keine zurückgesetzten werte bei denen nur die 'power on hours' ausgelassen wurden. Da ist garnichts gelöscht oder zurückgesetzt vermute ich, sondern die platte war einfach nur sehr viel idle und im dauerbetrieb. Kein Mysterium.

Was an der Feststellung dass da nicht nur die 'power on hours' vergessen wurden so aufregt ist mir nicht klar. Die Werte die man sieht sind sogar eher positiv (im sinne von glück im unglück) denn 24/7 primär idle Betrieb ist noch eine der schonensten arten der alterung. Hätte die bei der Betriebszeit schon tausende power cycles und hunderttausende head load events wäre das viel unschöner.
Wenn du also auf dieser Platte aus irgendeinem grund sitzen bleibst, bleibt immerhin noch der trost dass die bislang wahrscheinlich sehr schonend gelaufen ist, aber definitiv kein frühausfall mehr zu erwarten ist. Wenn die so ihre 3 jahre gelaufen ist läuft sie vermutlich locker noch 7+ Jahre in dem Nutzungsprofil. Persönlicher Erfahrungswert ;)
Definitiv besser als eine ehemalige Büro-desktopplatte die jeden Tag mindestens einmal ein- und wieder ausgeschaltet wurde, oder eventuell sogar besser als wenn sie die 3 Jahre in einem Regal gelegen hätte. Ich weiß nicht ob es noch relevant ist gelegentlich mal die Lager zu bewegen und Schmiermittel zu verteilen.

Ernsthaft... Ich würde eine der Offiziell von Seagate refurbishten kaufen, Backup braucht man eh, also warum nicht die Ersparnis mitnehmen, bei neuen bekommt man aktuell scheinbar ja auch nix anderes.

Oder WD in deren eigenen Online Shop, die werden ja nicht selbst so etwas abziehen. Kostet aber mehr. Seagate scheint keinen eigenen Store zu haben
