TBR has been with us for a long time despite the fact that lately it starts to attract attention, with
NVIDIA it has been accompanying us since its
Maxwel l architecture , only TBR since VRS has started to be part of the recent
Turing architecture .
AMD, on the other hand, equips
Draw Stream Binning Rasterizer (
DSBR ), it is a different way of working than TBR but the final concept is the same, dividing the frame in a certain part of the process to improve performance. It could be said that it is almost a form of TBR but without being a TBR, a full and formal implementation by TBR is found from
RDNA2 , in
RDNA we already have an almost full implementation as well as its own VRS implementation.
In summary, Tile-Based Rendering and Variable Rate Shading on GPU will be fully found in both brands from 2020, when
RDNA2 and Ampere are presented , very promising advantages for future games.
